4 Battalion Gamunu Watch (GW) troops located in Unnichchai, Batticaloa area under command to the 232 Infantry Brigade and 23 Infantry Division has organized a school item donation programme in Karaweddiyaru Wijitha School for 20 students from grade 1 to 5 in the school. Major S P I H Senanayake psc lsc GW, Commanding Officer of 4 GW was the chief guest of the event and the programme was conduct on 23 August 2023 and donated Rs. 2500 worth stationary pack for each student.

According to an information received by 7 Military Intelligence Corps troops, together with Suriyapura Special Task Force officials, a person was apprehended with 2.930 g of Methamphetamine (ICE) at Peraru on 24 Aug 2023. Thereafter suspected person with illegal drugs were handed over to the Kanthale Police Station for further investigations.

Thereafter suspected person with illegal drugs were handed over to the Kanthale Police Station for further investigations.

According to an information received by 7 Military Intelligence Corps troops, together with Kanthale Police officials, a person was apprehended with 1.450 g of Methamphetamine (ICE) at Peraru on 21 Aug 2023. Thereafter suspected person with illegal drugs was handed over to the Thambalagamuwa Police Station for further investigations.

According to an information received by 3(V) Military Intelligence Corps troops, together with Thirukkovil STF officials, a person was apprehended with 37.640g of Methamphetamine (ICE) at Akkareipattu on 20 Aug 2023. Thereafter suspected person with illegal drugs was handed over to the Akkareipattu Police Station for further investigations.

According to the instruction and guidelines by The Commanding Officer of 4 Battalion Gamunu Watch, Major S P I H Senanayake psc lsc GW, in conjunction with International Youth Day, conducted an awareness programme on drug prevention and reducing traffic accidents on 16 August 2023 at the fisheries union hall Unnachchi.

18th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a plant Distribution program (Mango, Orange, Pomegranate and Rose apple plants) to low income families identified among the civilians residing in the Kalmunei area on 12.08.2023 at the 18 battalion headquarters. Commanding officer of the 18th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 50 civilians participated in this event including 03 X 20 Troops.

Troops of 9th Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery assisted to conduct “Esala Maha Perehera” at Somawathiya Raja Maha Viharaya on 1st August 2023 under the direction of 23 Infantry Division.

On July 22 of 2023, the Security Force Headquarters - East organized on a pilgrimage tour to strengthen camaraderie and spend quality time for the working staff of the Eastern Headquarters. Under the guidance of the Eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera, the Staff Officers organized this tour and organized with the aim of lowering the work stress, relieving the uniformity, and promoting the harmony among the troops. During the journey troops were visited to Seruvavila temple, Lankapatuna temple and Koneshwaram Kovila at Tricomalee. 4 officers and 76 other ranks with 3 civil workers were joined to the tour and it was a memorable day for the all.

Upon the outbreak of the forest fire on 08 July 2023, the staff of the range forest office, Habarana and nearby villagers rallied together to initially control the blaze. Their efforts were commendable in minimizing the spread of the fire and protecting the surrounding area. However, recognizing the need for additional resources and expertise, the Sri Lankan Army promptly intervened to provide assistance and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
