As part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme the 24 Infantry Division initiated a beach cleaning programme under the directions and guidance of the General Office Commanding, Major General HCL Galappatthi RSP USP. This beach cleaning programme was conducted by troops of the 241 Infantry Brigade and the 11 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard on 11 January 2025.

Under the instructions and guidance of Major General HCL Galappatthi RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, a surrounding and pagoda cleaning program was conducted by 02 x 20 troops of the 241 Infantry Brigade and the 11 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard at the Sri Wijayarama Temple in Akkaraipattu from 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs on 12 January 2025.

The event was held at the Kalmunai Holy Cross Church on 23 December 2024 .
