The foundation stone for the new shrine at Viru Kekulu Preschool, Diyatalawa was laid by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake , the President Seva Vanitha Unit, Sri Lanka Army on 14 September 2017. Amidst the sermons recited by the Buddhist monks at Ellegama Temple, the foundation stone was placed.

"Wana Ropa" the national tree planting programme was held in the month of October under the patronage of HE the president. Consistent with this national event, Sri Lanka Army also launched a tree planting programme as 'Ranawiru Haritha Arana' from 24 October 2017 to 31 October 2017. Consequently, Security Forces Headquarters (Central) also planted trees at Bingethenne, Diyatalawa with the directions and supervision of Major General G R H Dias USP ndu psc IG, the Commander Security Forces (Central).

Kids at Diyatalawa Viru Kekulu Pre –school displayed their talents at the annual sports meet which was organized according to the directions of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) on 17 March 2017 from 1000 hours to 1200 hours at Diyatalawa Polo grounds.

Giving prominence to all the rituals and traditions a Grand New Year Festival was organized by the Security Force Headquarters (Central) to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. This was organized with the participation and the directions of Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Central), at the Muthukumaru Ground Diyatalawa on 11 April 2017. The active participation as well as the close support of the under command Units and Training schools made this event a success.

The National War Heroes Commemorative Day was.celebrated in remembrance of the fallen war heroes at the War Heroes Monument, Badulla on 08 May 2017 from 0900 hours to 1200 hours. Commander, Security Forces (Central), Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, the Governor of Uva Province, advocate MP Jayasinghe as well as the Officers representing Army, Navy, Air Force and Police participated in the event to pay tribute to the fallen. The family members of the fallen war heroes also took part in the commemoration ceremony to pay the floral tribute.
