The coastal line of Kirinda in Hambanthota was cleaned on 29 December 2019 by the troops of 121 and 122 Brigades which are under command to Security Force Headquarters (Central) in accordance with a concept of the HE the President as well as the directions of the Commander of the Army.

Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made the first official visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Central) on 06 December 2019, after assuming the office as the Commander of the Army. Amidst the honorable welcomes to the Headquarters, the visiting commander entered the premises. There the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu received the Commander of the Army and it was followed by a Guard Turn out.

Kids at Diyatalawa Viru Kekulu Pre –School displayed their talents at the annual concert held on 19 November 2019 at the Torch Cinema Hall of Sri Lanka Military Academy. Mrs Keshani Hettiarachchi, the Chairperson of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Seva Vanitha Unit (SLSC – SVU) participated in this event as the chief guest. The Commander Security Force (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu also graced the occasion along with Senior Officers of the SF (Central). Moreover, the senior members of the Seva Vanitha Unit also joined this event and admired the talents of the kids.The parents of the children expressed their gratitude towards the teachers of the Pre-school for making their kids more skillful.

In parallel with the opening ceremony of the newly built office complex of Army Headquarters, an eco friendly programe was launched from the peak of the Sri Pada to Nallathanniya on the direction of the Commander of the Army and the supervision as well as the participation of the Commander Security Force (Central). Aiming to arrange the surrounding more eye catching for the devotees as well as the foreigners during the forthcoming pilgrim season, this cleaning programme was conducted on 11 November 2019 by the troops of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and its under command Divisions, Brigades, Units and Training Schools.

Giving prominence to the religious activities, Sri Lanka Army, the guardians of the nation celebrate the forthcoming 70th Army Day which falls on 10th October. As a precursory for that the annual Flag Blessing Ceremony is held and the first religious ceremony was held at Sri Dalanda Maligawa on 28 September 2019. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc along with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in this religious ceremony.

The new Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc visited Kandy on 25 August 2019 after assuming the office as the 23rd Commander of the Army. Paying homage to the noblest Temple of the Tooth the Commander paid a courtesy call on Chief Prelates of Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.

A new facelift and an overall renovation was done to the monument on the country’s highest point of elevation, ‘Mount Pedro’ or Pidurutalagala . The 6.2 km long road to the top was completed way back in 1990 which remained unattended for years.
