THE WALK OF TWO DISABLED SOLDIERS CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY

Soldiers of Sri Lanka Army dedicatedly fought 30 years war in order to wipe the terrorism from the soils of the mother land. In achieving this, most of the soldiers who got wounded and disabled during the war are still under medication. The commitment of them to make a fear free society is appreciated all the time and the whole nation is grateful to them.

In retrospection of their dedication and to add glamour to their monotones lives, two disabled soldiers from Army and Navy commenced a walk from Nagadeepa on 22 October 2019 and ended up in Kiriwehera in Katharagama on 28 December 2019 stating a new world record. When they reached Kiriwehera in Kataragama, located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), they received a warm welcome as well as they were assisted immensely by the Senior officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the under command formations of the Security Forces (Central).

Moreover, the Commander Security Force (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP USP VSV ndu also participated in this occasion along with the General Officer Commanding of 11 and 12 Divisions, all the Brigade Commanders as well as Senior Officers representing the under command units of Security Force (Central). Giving prominence to the religious observances this brief ceremony was commenced and the family members of the two soldiers also participated in this ceremony. Appreciating this walk of two disabled soldiers a media conference was also held on the same day at Katharagama Devalaya premises.
