Major General P U S Vithanage RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Central) made his first formal visit to the 11 Division on 04 January 2017 after assuming duties as the Commander, Security Forces (Central). The commander was honoured with a formal Guard Turnout by the troops of 5 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (Volunteer) and a tree sapling was planted by the commander to mark the visit to the 11 Division.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General AWJC De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc visited 12 Division which is under command to Security Forces Headquarters (Central) on 21 January 2017. The newly constructed office complex of the Division was declared open at an auspicious time scheduled at 1041 hours, by the Commander of the army to mark his official visit to 12 Division.

In accordance with a concept of His Excellency the President, a week has been named as the Physical Fitness week. Consequently, the Security Force Headquarters (Central) launched a programme on 06th February 2017 at the camp premises with the instructions and guidance of Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (Central) intending to control the Non - Communicable Diseases which are rapidly spread in the Island.

The new month of March 2017 was started by hoisting the National Flag, the flag of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and the flag of Volunteer Force Training School by Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (Central), the Brigadier General Staff and the Commandant of Volunteer Force Training School. Following that the National Anthem as well as the Army song was also sung by all the officers and other ranks on 1st March 2017 at the camp premises before starting the duties of the new month.

Army personnel paid their fullest contribution to make the event of paying tribute to all the Samanera Theroes with various talents at Sri Sudarmarama Buduraja Temple in Hambantota District located in the responsible area of 12 Division of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) on 03 March 2017 with the participation of Chief incumbents and teachers of the Pirivenas.
