The soft opening of the Second stage of Chinese Funded Auditorium Complex Project at Sri Lanka Military Academy was held on 08 May 2018 according to the Chinese tradition. 11 Division and 12 Division of Security Forces (Central) organized grand Vesak Festivals on 29 and 30 April 2018 at the headquarters premises. At this Vesak Festival, colourful and innovative Vesak lanterns were exhibited by 11 Division and its under command Brigades as well as Units. Further, they organized an Ice cream and Grams Dansala in parallel with the Vesak day celebrations.

Kids at Viru Kekulu Pre - school - Pallekele displayed their talents at the annual sports meet on 02 April 2018 at the school premises. This occasion was graced by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake the president of the Army Sewa Vanitha Unit as the Chief Guest with the invitation of Mrs. Indika Ranawana the Lady In Charge of Viru Kekulu Pre - School Pallekele. The General Officer Commanding of 11 Division Major General AWMAWN Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc and other senior officers and officers of 11 Division as well as senior members of the Sewa Vanitha Unit participated in the event.

In parallel with the 5th anniversary celebrations at Security Forces Headquarters (Central), a new entrance for the Corporals’ Club was declared open on 21 March 2018 by the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG. This entrance was a much needed requirement for the soldiers and in celebration of this, a get-together was held with the participation of the Commander along with other senior officers and Regimental Sergeant Major Warrant Officer I, L F Hettiarachchi of Security Forces Headquarters (Central).

A special conference was chaired by the Commander of the Army in order to discuss the possible actions that can be taken to control the irrupted unrest situation in the Kandy District on 08 March 2018. The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, who is also the Group Operations Commander for Kandy District and the Deputy Group Operations Commander for Kandy District, Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, also took part in this conference.

Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, has been appointed as the Overall Operations Commander for Kandy District on 07 March 2018 by Defence Secretary in order to control the erupted unrest situation in Kandy. The Commander has been appointed to command the Army, Navy and Police troops deployed to control the communal tension in the area. Further, Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division has also been appointed as the Deputy Overall Operations Commander for Kandy District.
