A tree planting programme was launched in Bambarakanda Reserve on 05 June 2019 in accordance with a concept of the His Excellency the President and in parallel with the World Environment Day. Accordingly, troops of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) also assisted this nature friendly programme with the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the supervision of the Chief Civil Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces (Central), Lieutenant Colonel W R M P Wijesundara of Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps. This programme was organized in conjunction with the Hadabima Authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat.

The National War Heroes’ Memorial Day of Central Province was celebrated on 14 May 2019 from 0900 hours to 1130 hours at the War Heroes Memorial in Mailapitiya with the participation of the Governor of Central Province, President’s Counsel Mithri Gunarathne. The family members of the fallen war heroes also took part in the commemoration ceremony to pay the floral tribute.

New Commander Security Force (Central) Major General GJL Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu graced with his presence at the first official visit to 12 Div Headquarters and 121,122 Brigade Headquarters on 24 April 2019. The General Officer Commanding of 12 Division Major General GWDK Jayathilake USP ndu , Brigade Commanders of 121, 122, Brigades and number of Senior Officers attended at this occasion. Following that the Commander addressed the troops then participated for a all rank tea. Further planted saplings in remembrance of his visit to the 12 Div, 121 and 122 brigade premises.

Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces - Central (SF-C) at his office in the Diyatalawa Army Cantonment on Friday (12) during a simple ceremony. He succeeded Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG, expected to take up another appointment shortly.

Security Forces Headquarters (Central) troops and the Volunteer Force Training School troops joined together to give an auth for Bakmaha Pledge for narcotics free country in the morning on 3 April 2019. Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG, Commander Security Forces (Central) and all officers of SFHQ(C) participated for the event with ORS. After hoisting the national flag, Security Forces (Central) flag and the Volunteer Force Training School flag, National Anthem was sung at the Headquarters premises. The Bakmaha Pledge was read by Lt Col SP Malawarage RSP USP IG, SO 1 (Log) of Security Forces Headquarters (Central). Following that all ranks were witness the main ceremony on TV which was held at the Independence Square under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena.

A Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour offered by troops of 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in keeping with military traditions, saluted the out-going Commander Security Force (Central) Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG in Security Force Headquarters (Central) – Diyatalawa on 10 April 2019 . The General Officer Commanding of 11 Division and 12 Division, Brigade Commanders of 111, 112, Brigades, Commanding Officers of affiliated Bns and other under command units and Other Ranks of the SFHQ(Central) were present at the ceremony. Afterwards, the out-going Commander posed for a group photograph and participated for all Rank Tea. Further, Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG addressed the troops and thanked all for the generous assistance and support extended to him to perform his tasks during his tenure as the SF Comd.

Security Force Headquarters (Central) ceremonially celebrated Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival on 8 April 2019 at Muthukumaru Ground Diyatalawa .The Commander Security Force (Central) Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG was graced the occasion along with his wife Miss Ludmila De Silva as the Chief Guest. All Officers, Others Ranks, Civil Staff and Their family members were participated for the festival. The Festival included many varieties of traditional games and fun-making activities adding glamour and humor to the Celebrations. At the end of the day winners were rewarded giving valuable prices. and gifts by the SF Comd and Musical Programme was held to entertained everyone and at the evening.

The 'Sri Pada' (Adam's Peak) is a historically important place of pilgrimage in Sri Lanka. Thousands of devotees make the arduous trek to the mountain each year during the pilgrimage season to reach the summit before sunrise. In order to reach the top, devotees have to climb thousands of steps over several hours braving tough weather conditions. The 'Sri Pada' is located in the central highlands of the island and reaches a height of more than 2,240m.”The mountain is surrounded by protected forest reserves which are home to a wide range of fauna and flora, many endemic to the country.

Annual sports meet was organized on 26 March 2019 by the Viru Kekulu Pre School, Diyatalawa which is under command to Security Forces (Central). The sports meet was successfully conducted on the direction of Mrs Ludmila De Silva the Senior Lady In charge of the Diyatalawa Viru Kekulu pre school.Mrs Shiromi Liyanage the Assistant Public Relation Officer The Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the occasion as the Chief Guest .The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General WRP De Silva USP ndu IG as well as senior officers, officers and other ranks of this Headquarters participated in the Sports meet. The teachers of the Pre-School and the parents of the kids assisted the children to make the the Annual Sports meet success.
