  • TROOPS RESCUED GROUP OF STUDENTS WHO LOST THEIR WAY IN HANTHANA

    A group of students (09 x Male & 08 x Female ) belongs to faculty of Law in University of Colombo had lost their way back from the Hanthana mountain range due to prevailed bad weather condition on 29 March 2018 and Kandy Divisional Secretary, Mr H M P Hitisekara has requested the military assistance from Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division of Security Forces (Central) to launch rescue missions.

  • ARMY TROOPS EXTINGUISH A SUDDEN FIRE

    30th March 2018 16:18:12 Hours

    A sudden fire occurred in Hanthana mountain range on 27 March 2018 in Kandy District, was controlled by the troops of 11 Division of Security Forces (Central). A team consisting 1 Officer and 20 Other Ranks of 2 (V) SLSR were sent to extinguish the fire.

  • AWARENESS PROGRAMME TO PROMOTE ORCHIDS FARMING AS A FINANCIAL BENEFIT PROJECT

    An awareness programme on Orchid framing was organized with the blessings of the comd of the Army by General Officer Commanding of 11 Division Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc with the direction of Commander Security Forces (Cen) Maj Gen G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG in order to promote it as an income generating project for the people in the area. The programme was conducted on 25 February 2018 at the Art Gallery in Kandy mainly focusing the families of military personnel in Kandy District.

  • MILITARY PERSONNEL TAKE MEASURES TO REMOVE THE DEBRIS IN KANDY DISTRICT

    A programme was launched in the Kandy district with the instructions of the Commander of the Army in order to remove the debris of damaged buildings during the unrest situation occurred due to a communal tension in certain areas of the district. In accordance with the instructions of the Commander of the Army, on 21 March 2018 a programme was commenced with the supervision of Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division.

  • CONCLUDED ANOTHER ENGLISH COURSE FOR THE OTHER RANKS

    The English Language and Skill Development Course 2018/1 conducted at the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) under the direction of Major General G R H Dias USP ndcpsc IG, the Commander Security Forces (Central), terminated on 20 March 2018.

  • AN IMPORTANT WORKSHOP WAS CONDUCTED FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN

    A leadership workshop was conducted for the students of DebarawewaMahaVidyalaya on 19 March 2018 at Security Forces Headquarters (Central) in accordance with a request made by the principal of the school from the Commander of the Army. This workshop was successfully conducted with the participation of 84 students and they were lectured on Leadership by Major M P Sinharage (SLAWC), General Staff Officer 2 (Media) at Security Forces Headquarters (Central). Further, these students were educated on importance of Physical Fitness and Team Work.

  • THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY CALLED A SPECIAL CONFERENCE

    A special conference was chaired by the Commander of the Army in order to discuss the possible actions that can be taken to control the irrupted unrest situation in the Kandy District on 08 March 2018. The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, who is also the Group Operations Commander for Kandy District and the Deputy Group Operations Commander for Kandy District, Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, also took part in this conference.

  • AN ENGLISH COURSE WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED AT SF (CENTRAL)

    The English Course which was designed by the British Council in collaboration with the Directorate of Training and the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General GRH Dias USP ndc psc IG in order to enhance the English knowledge of the Officers at Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and its under command formations was successfully conducted from 21 February 2018 to 06 March 2018.

    The course was conducted at the headquarters premises with the participation of 20 Officers and it was conducted for two weeks by Mr Mickel who was a representative of the British Council. The awarding of certificates for student officers of the course was done by Mr Mickel, the lecturer of the course in the presence of General Staff Officer 1(Coord), Lieutenant Colonel B A S S D Bulathgama and General Staff Officer 2 (Training), Major A K R M M P Abeywardane RWP RSP of Security Forces Headquarters (Central).

    Mr Mickel the lecturer of the course was also presented a memento by General Staff Officer 1(Coord), Lieutenant Colonel B A S S D Bulathgama as a token of appreciation.

  • CENTRAL TROOPS CONDUCTED A SHRAMADANA CAMPAIGN

    A Shramadana Campaign was conducted on 06 March 2018 from 0830 hours to 1230 hours at the Dhowa Temple which is located in an eye-catching area. This charity campaign was launched in parallel with the 5th anniversary celebrations at Security Forces Headquarters (Central). In accordance with the guidance and supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, 02 Officers and 15 Soldiers cleaned the temple and the Buddhist monks at the temple blessed the participants at the end of the charity programme.

  • COMMANDER SF (CENTRAL) WAS APPOINTED AS THE OVERALL OPERATIONS COMMANDER FOR KANDY

    Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, has been appointed as the Overall Operations Commander for Kandy District on 07 March 2018 by Defence Secretary in order to control the erupted unrest situation in Kandy. The Commander has been appointed to command the Army, Navy and Police troops deployed to control the communal tension in the area. Further, Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division has also been appointed as the Deputy Overall Operations Commander for Kandy District.
