An awareness programme was conducted to make aware the school children and their parents on explosives which have become a frequently talked yet a doubtful topic in the present day scenario. With the purpose of educating the subjected group to identify the explosives in advance, the Commander of the Army initiated to conduct this programme. Accordingly, on 07 June 2019 at Madduma Bandara Vidyalaya in Pilimatalawa this awareness programme was conducted under the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division.
Consequently, General Staff Officer 3 (Operations) of 11 Division, Captain R M I A Bandara of Sri Lanka Engineers described the way of identifying explosives and the safety measures which can be applied in the event of finding such explosives. Further, he instructed the way of reacting if noticed suspicious parcels or persons.
