On 14 February 2026 at approximately 1145 hours, the Headquarters of the 112 Infantry Brigade, under the 11 Infantry Division of the Security Forces (Central), received information from the Disaster Management Centre – Badulla regarding an accident that had occurred at a rock quarry site in the Liyangahwela area, falling under the Bandarawewa Divisional Secretariat. According to the report, two workers had lost their lives as a result of the incident.
