Under the 12 Infantry Division of SFHQ (Central), the Vesak Festival was celebrated in a charming and devotional manner in commemoration of the Birth, Enlightenment and the ‘Parinirwana’ of Lord Buddha. A grand lantern competition was organized from May 12 to May 16, 2025, at the premises of the ‘Double Tree by Hilton – Weerawila Rajawarna’ Hotel, under the guidance of Colonel BDTD Jayaratne psc, the Commander of 122 Infantry Brigade Headquarters.

The Prefects' Induction Ceremony 2025 of Tamil School at Poonagala- Bandarawela, was held on 16th May 2025 at 0930 hours at the school premises. As per to the formal invitation made by the principal of the school, to the Commander Security Forces ( central), Brigadier M Mahawithna KSP, the Brigadier Coordinating (volunteer) Security Forces (central) graced the occasion as the chief guest, representing the Commander Security Forces (central). Thirty four students were pinned prefect badges during the ceremony.

In response to a request made by the Divisional Secretary - Hambantota, troops of the 3rd volunteer Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard under command to 122 Infantry Brigade helped with the decorations of Vesak Zone -2025 at Hambantota Township.

On account of the “Vesak Poya” celebrations, troops of the 12 Infantry Division Headquarters entertained more than two thousand devotees in a “Dansala” where people were offered with tea buns, plantain and cordial drinks on 12 May 2025 in front of the division headquarters. Additionally, a colorful eye-catching Vesak Lantern, decorations which were created by the troops of division headquarters, inaugurated in connection with the commencement of Vesak Seasonal Festival. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Civil Servants and a large number of devotees living around the Katuwewa, Hambantota area witnessed the Vesak Celebrations and Dansala.

It was reported that a bus travelling from Kataragama to Kurunegala had veered off the road and plunged approximately 40 feet into a precipice in the Ramboda area, the accident was reported at approximately 0615 hours On 11th may 2025. which in 642 Brigade Headquarters area, under the 11 Division Headquarters.

In line with the Vesak Poya Day troops of 12th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment organized an extensive shramadana campaign for two days and cleaned the Tissamaharama Rajamaha Vihara premises on 10 and 11 May 2025. During the shramadana campaign troops worked willingly with commitment to ensure the cleanness and beauty of the temple premises.
