Newly appointed Logistics Commander was warmly welcomed by Colonel G H A I Wijerathne RWP RSP of Logistics Command (Cen). Following the Military traditions, troops of the 7 SLCMP accorded a Guard Turnout and newly appointed Logistics Commander (Cen) Signed an official document at the auspicious time amidst the Pirith chanting by Maha Sanga to signify this remarkable Event. Under the 11 Infantry Division of SFHQ (Central), the Vesak Festival was celebrated in a charming and devotional manner with beautifully crafted Vesak lanterns adorning the entire area, in commemoration of the Birth, Enlightenment and the ‘Parinirwana’ of Lord Buddha. These decorations were organized by the troops under command to 11 Infantry Division. The 111 Infantry Brigade Headquarters organized a Vesak festival in Doluwa area in Kandy, in collaboration with general public and civil organizations, which included a stunning Vesak lantern exhibition, a Buddhist devotional song program, and a Dansala for approximately 5,000 people. The 642 Infantry Brigade Headquarters extended its fullest support to the successful implementation of the ‘National Vesak Zone’ Program organized at Nuwara Eliya. Additionally, other brigade headquarters under the 11 Infantry Division were also organized various events in their respective areas.
