Major General HTW Vidyananda RWP RSP USP the outgoing General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division who is scheduled to retire from active service shortly paid an official visit to the 122 Infantry Brigade Headquarters on 10 September 2025 as part of his farewell visit.
The visit commenced with a ceremonial guard turnout presented by troops of the 12 Gajaba Regiment which under command to the 122 Infantry Brigade. The planting of a sandalwood sapling by the Commander marked the significance of the occasion.
Following the initial proceedings the Commander addressed the troops of the 122 Infantry Brigade and its under command battalions. After the troop addressed Brigadier BDTD Jayarathna psc the Commander 122 Infantry Brigade along with the respective Commanding Officers of the 12 Battalion Gajaba Regiment and the 3 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard presented mementos to Major General HTW Vidyananda RWP RSP USP in honour of his dedicated service to 12 Infantry Division.
The event was concluded with an official all ranked tea hosted in honour of the visiting Commander marking the end of a memorable and respectful farewell ceremony.
