A programme has been launched to eradicate dengue menace which rapidly spreads due to the weather condition prevailed in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central). Accordingly, shramadana campaigns were launched in all the responsible districts of Security Forces (Central) under the aegis of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG on 01 and 02 September 2018 by the troops of under command Divisions and Brigades.

Prevailed adverse weather condition paralyzed the civil life in the Nuwara Eliya District located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central). Therefore, the relief operations were carried out by the Military personnel under command to 11Division of Security Forces (Central) on 26 and 27 August 2018.

A sudden fire occurred in Gonadeniya forest reserve in Veeraketiya on 01 September 2018. The mentioned area is located within the responsible area of 122 Brigade of Security Forces (Central). Therefore, on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG, 01 Officer and 15 soldiers from 3 Sri Lanka National Guards (SLNG) took prompt actions to douse the wild fire under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the Unit.

The Kandy Esala Perahera was concluded successfully after the water cutting ceremony on 26 August 2018. Following that, the main tusker of the procession, Nedungamuwe Raja, who arrived at the Dalanda Maligawa on 20 August 2018 from Nedungamuwa for the 12th consecutive year, was taken back to Gampaha on 26 August 2018.

The Esala Perahera is a major event organized at the Sri Dalanda Maligawa in Kandy which is considered as the prominent religious place of the Buddhists. Accordingly, on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG, providing the security and other coordinating tasks of the perahera are done by the troops of SF (Cen) since this sacred place is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central).

The wild fire occurred on 20 August 2018 in Horombuwa area, in the Monaragala District was doused by the troops on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG. The affected area is located in the responsible area of 121 Brigade of Security Forces (Central).

Due to the heavy rain and the storm conditions some huge trees fell down and caused severe damages to several houses, in Brawnswick Gaskipan state in the Nuwaraeliya District on 17 August 2018. Troops under command to 112 Brigade of Security Forces (Central), reported to the area on the direction of the Brigade Commander of 112 Brigade, Brigadier M W A A Wijesuriya RWP RSP USP. Accordingly, troops from 19 SLNG removed the fallen trees and debris intending to assist the victims of the incident.

Sri Dalanda Maligawa in Kandy is the most sacred religious place of the Buddhists and the Esala Perahera is one of the main events organized annually at Sri Dalanda Maligawa. Since this sacred place is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), the security and other coordinating tasks of the perahera are done by the troops of SF (Cen). Accordingly, on 19 August 2018 General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu observed the progress of the scheduled events in which military assistance is provided.
