A sudden fire occurred in Haldummulla, Mahawanguwa area in the Badulla District which is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) in the morning hours of 20 July 2018. Sooner the incident reported, the troops of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) were tasked to control the fire on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG.

The 27th death anniversary of the fallen war hero, Corporal Hasalaka Gamini Kularathne of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) was held at Gamini Kularathne Monument in Hasalake on 16 July 2018 at 1000 hours in remembrance of his dedicated service rendered for the motherland. He was also posthumously awarded the decoration the Parama Weera Vibhushana (PWV) medal
