  • FIRST IN ORDER OF MERIT OF CIJW COURSE - 23

    Capt K A J T Buddhika (O/68169) from 3rd Battalion Mechanized Infantry has achieved 1st place of Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare Junior Command Course-23, which held at Army Training school - Maduruoya. He has shown best performances throughout the course and achieved first place out of 21 student officers which included 5 foreign officers from friendly foreign countries.

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment Officers' Training Day 2018 - III conducted at the Regimental Centre on 09 November 2018. The Colonel of the Regiment, Senior Officers/Officers including the officers on ERE also participated for the Training Day programme.

  • SACRED BO SAPLING WAS PLANTED INSIDE THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE

    The sacred Bo sapling was planted inside the Regimental Centre premises during brief ceremony on 23rd October 2018. The sacred Bo sapling was brought to the Regimental Centre from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya Anuradhapura with the coordination of the Deputy Centre Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel KKS Perakum RWP RSP and kept in a special room to pay homage.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDING OFFICER OF 5th (V) BATTALION MECHANIZED INFANTRY ASSUMED DUTIES

    Major M A W Hemantha Kumara took over duties as the Commanding Officer of 5th (V) Battalion Mechanized Infantry on 06th September 2018. The newly appointed Commanding Officer was greeted with the Guard Turnout on arrival at the entrance to the Battalion. After, officially taking over duties at his office, he planted a sapling to symbolize the acceptance of the duties. Thereafter, he addressed to Officers and Other Ranks of the Battalion.

  • EXERCISE - CORMORANT STRIKE IX - 2018

    Exercise - Cormorant Strike IX - 2018, the multi-national Field Training Exercise (FTX), organized by the Sri Lanka Army, conducted for the 9th consecutive year with the participation of Sri Lankan Tri-Forces and foreign participants representing friendly foreign countries.

  • MRS.FREDRICA ATAPATTU ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB

    Mrs. Fredrica Atapattu assumed duties as the new President of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club and the ceremony was held at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental Centre Auditorium, Panagoda on 09th September 2018. The new President and senior members of the Ladies Club marked the inauguration of the day's proceedings by Lighting of the traditional oil lamp.

  • BRIGADIER A M S B ATAPATTU ASSUMED DUTIES AS 9TH COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    Brigadier A M S B Atapattu assumed office as the 9th Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 03 September 2018. The Colonel of the Regiment honoured with a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance. Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment paid floral tribute to the war heroes' monument.

  • FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR OUTGOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment bid farewell to outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General MKD Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu on 01 September 2018. Commencing with day's proceedings a Guard Turnout was presented in honour of outgoing Colonel of the Regiment. Brigadier AMSB Atapattu with senior Council members warmly welcomed the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment at the parade ground. A Guard of Honour was presented in honour of Colonel of the Regiment at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre parade ground by Mechanized Infantry troops comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
