The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club was held at the officers Mess, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Panagoda on 08th April 2018. The newly appointed President of Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Nayana Balachandra and Mrs. Dulka Herath (Secretary). The event was ceremonially commenced with the lightening of traditional oil lamp. Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club Executive member Mrs. Nayana Balachandra welcomed all members to the day's event.

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment secured third place of the Inter Regiment Boxing Championship - 2018 held at Army Indoor Gymnasium Panagoda on 23 March 2018. S/829293 L/Cpl Rajapaksha URNK of 3 Mechanized Infantry was awarded as best boxer of the tournament and other Mechanized Infantry boxers were achieved following medals according to their weight classes.

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment bid farewell to outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc on 17 March 2018. Commencing with day's proceedings a Guard Turnout was presented in honour of outgoing Colonel of the Regiment. The Centre Commandant Colonel H MU Herath RWP RSP USP psc and the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade Colonel L S Balachandra RSP warmly welcomed the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment at the parade ground. A Guard of Honour was presented in honour of Colonel of the Regiment at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre parade ground by Mechanized Infantry troops comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment conducted Officers' Training Day 2018 - I at the Regimental Centre on 02 March 2018. The Colonel of the Regiment, Senior Officers/Officers including the officers on ERE also (more than 100 Officers) were participated for the Training Day programme.

The Inter Battalion Athletics Championship - 2018 of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment began on 24 February 2018 at Kilinochchi Central College Play Ground. 5th (V) Battalion Mechanized Infantry organized the event. The Commanding Officer 5 (V) Mech Inf, Lt Col HKS Thilakaratne Officially open the event.

The half constructed house by S/826233 Sgt Nilanka N-3 Mech Inf was completed and hand over to his family by the Colonel of the Regiment Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc with brief ceremony on 24 February 2018. The project was funded by Mr. Tharanga Weerawardhana, Chairman/ Managing Director Alaris Lanka (pvt) Ltd with the request of the Chairman - Mechanized Infantry Regiment Ladies Club. He donated Rs. 2,500,000.00 for selected five soldiers (Rs.500, 000 each) of 5 Battalions to complete their half constructed houses.

Capt YAAM Yapa (O/67807) from 2 Mechanized infantry has achieved 1st place of Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare Junior Command Course-18, which held at Army Training school - Maduruoya from 16 January 2017 to 08 April 2017. He has shown best performances throughout the course and achieved first place out of 21 student officers which included 4 foreign officers from India, Pakistan and Nepal.

The first Training session was held on 19 August 2015 and the second session was held on 06 January 2016 at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Headquarters with the participation of 96 Officers\' as per the directions given by the Army Headquarters. Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen AM Perera RWP RSP psc articipated the event and addressed all officers during his opening remarks stating the importance of officers' training day.
The 'Training Day' commenced with Physical Training and Drill sessions. After that, the group presentation was conducted by officers of 1st Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment under topics of & "Modern Concept of the Mechanized Infantry and Its applicability to Sri Lanka".
