    S/827025 Cpl Bandara MHND of 1 Mechanized Infantry has Achieved 2nd Place of Platoon Support Weapon Instructor Course which held at Infantry Training Center at Minneriya from 09th August 2016 to 14 November 2016.

  • FIRST PLACE WON BY THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY NCO FROM THE CLERK COURSE

    S/826773 Cpl Pradeep Kumara WL of 2 Mechanized Infantry achieved the first place out of 120 students of the Clerk Course held at Thisawewa from 10th January 2017 to 08th April 2017.

  • ACHIEVED FIRST PLACE OF CIJW COURSE

    Capt YAAM Yapa (O/67807) from 2 Mechanized infantry has achieved 1st place of Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare Junior Command Course-18, which held at Army Training school - Maduruoya from 16 January 2017 to 08 April 2017. He has shown best performances throughout the course and achieved first place out of 21 student officers which included 4 foreign officers from India, Pakistan and Nepal.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY

    The first Training session was held on 19 August 2015 and the second session was held on 06 January 2016 at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Headquarters with the participation of 96 Officers\' as per the directions given by the Army Headquarters. Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen AM Perera RWP RSP psc articipated the event and addressed all officers during his opening remarks stating the importance of officers' training day.

    The 'Training Day' commenced with Physical Training and Drill sessions. After that, the group presentation was conducted by officers of 1st Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment under topics of & "Modern Concept of the Mechanized Infantry and Its applicability to Sri Lanka".

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB BEGINS NEW YEAR WITH WELFARE DONATIONS

    Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club welcomed the New Year 2016 with a customary first meeting of the year held at the Officers\' Mess, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre on 6th January 2016 with participation of Mrs Thilanthi Perera, President, Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club.

    During the meeting, Mrs Thilanthi Perera, President and Mrs Nayana Balachandra, Secretary together with other ladies discussed future welfare projects to be carried out by the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club in the New Year. Afterwards, The president Mrs Thilanthi Perera handed over the donation cheques to Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen AM Perera RWP RSP psc for several welfare project carrying out by the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre as fols;

  • ACCOMMODATION BUILDING FOR OFFICERS’ MESS STAFF

    The Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre commenced a new construction project to build an accommodation building for Officers’ Mess staff at MIRC on 18 January 2016. Col LS Balachandra RSP, Centre Commandant laid the foundation stone at the auspicious time and Staff Offrs and ORs' of the MIRC participated in the event.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB VISIT TO ABIMANSALA II KAMBURUPITIYA

    The president Mrs. Thilanthi Perera and other members of the Ladies Club visited Abimansala II - Kamburupitiya on 30th January 2016 to share the happiness and interact with soldiers who were wounded in action. There are 48 dependent War Heroes at the Abimansala II at Kamburupitiya for lifetime care and rehabilitation. The members of the Ladies Club had an interaction with the Soldiers who were wounded in action and were presented gifts. The event was colorful with the Calypso musical programme which let the brave hearts entertained and followed by special lunch.

  • MIR Athletes Sportsmen Honoured in 1st 'Colours Night'

    Mechanized Infantry Regiment's (MIR) maiden 'Colours Night' which recognizes the athletic and sports skills of its men got underway at the Kotelawala Defence University auditorium on Friday (12) evening\' headed by Major General A.M. Perera, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR.

    The colourful and exciting ceremony that was attended by a large gathering of MIR personnel saw 54 exceptionally-talented athletes, including 3 officers receive those colours, having shown their skills in events such as golf, firing, Elle, swimming, wrestling and weight lifting.

  • FAREWELL CEREMONY TO OUTGOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL AM PERERA RWP RSP psc

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment bid farewell to its outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General AM Perera RWP RSP psc on 16th & 17th February 2015. Farewell Ceremony was held in its customary way and accorded a Guard Turnout and a Regimental Parade in honour of all ranks of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment at the Regimental Headquarters, Dambuluhalmillawewa. \r\nThe Farewell Dinner hosted in honour of the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment by all Officers of the Regiment at the Officers\' Mess. Senior officers and officers along with their spouses graced the farewell dinner to pay tribute to the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment.

  • MAJOR GENERAL GDHK GUNARATNE WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS 6TH COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    Major General GDHK Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc assumed office as the 6th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 18 February 2016 in a grandiose ceremony held at Regimental Headquarters, Dambuluhalmillawewa. At the auspicious time, Colonel of the Regiment placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the appointment in the presence of Centre Commandant, Brigade Commander, other senior officers, all commanding officers and staff of RHQ after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.The day's events also textured with the Regimental Parade presented by the troops of Mechanized Infantry Regiment and all ranks tea party. Large numbers of officers including council members were present to greet the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment.
