  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY OFFICERS GET - TOGETHER - 2016

    A mega family get-together for all Officers' in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment got off at the Officers' Mess permises on Thursday 29 December 2016. The social event came about as a proposal of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc as one more event in the event calendar where beloved families of the officers, specially the kids were given pride of place in the arrangement which was full of sprit end enthusiasm.

  • OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY 2017- I

    The Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre conducted its first Officers\' Training Day session for the year 2017 at the Regimental Centre Dambuluhalmillawewa on 9 May 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment, Senior Officers/Officers including the officers on ERE (Approx. 70 Officers) were participated for the Training Day programme. The Colonel of the Regiment addressed all the officers and stressed the important of conducting an Officers' Training Day in the Regiment during his opening remarks.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT CELEBRATES ITS VICTORIOUS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 10th anniversary on 26th January 2016 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc.

    The celebration was commenced with religious activities at Jaya Sri MahaBodhiya on 18th January.

    The all-night pirith chanting was conducted on 20th evening with colourful Procession and followed by an alms giving in the following day morning to invoke blessings on the Regiment.

  • 20TH REGIMENTAL COUNCIL HELD AT THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE

    The 20th Council Meeting of The Mechanized Infantry Regiment was held at conference hall Regimental Centre on 08th May 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc presided the council with the presence of other members of the council.

    The council discussed many important matters pertaining to the regiment and also to uplift and enhance the Training, Admin and Logistic. During the council many decisions were taken to future success of the regiment.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT SINHALA HINDU NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

    The Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival was Celebrated by the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre with participation of the residents of Dambulu Halmillawewa and neighbouring villagers at the Dambulu Halmillawewa School Ground on 24th April 2017. The event was sponsored by the Nestle Lanka Private Limited.

    The event was a great success with the participation of staff of the Regimental Centre along with the residents of the Dambulu Halmillawewa village. Col HMU Herath RWP RSP psc, the Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event included many varieties of traditional games and fun-making features in par with traditional customs which included Marathon, Bicycle Race, Tug of War, Beauty Queen Contest (Bakmaha Kumariya) and many more traditional games.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT COMMEMORATE THE NATIONAL VESAK DAY

    The 14th United Nations Vesak Day as well as Sri Lanka\'s National Vesak festival takes place in Sri Lanka in this year on a grand scale. Mechanized Infantry Regiment also arranged various events to commemorate the Vesak Day programme under the close supervision of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Ruwan Kulatunga and Centre Commandant Colonel Udaya Herath. Fried Rice Dansela, Vesak lanterns with decorations and special religious activities etc organized at the Regimental Centre premises."'Fried Rice Dansela" was organized at Dambuluhalmillawewa school ground to offer lunch for pilgrims (Over 4000) who are going across Dambuluhalmillawewa village.

  • THE 10TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB

    The 10th Annual General Meeting of the Mechanized infantry ladies club was held at the officers Mess, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, panagoda on 1st April 2017 with the participation of Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga (President), Mrs. Fedrika Atapaththu (Vice president) , Mrs. Dulka Herath (Secretary) and lady wives of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment Officers. Commencing the proceeding President Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga welcomed all members of the ladies club.

    As a customary, Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga was appointed as the president of the ladies club for year 2017 while Mrs Fedrika Athapattu as the vice president Mrs. Dulka Herath as the Secretary and all the lady wives of the present Commanding Officers as project leaders.

  • ACHIEVED FIRST PLACE OF CIJW COURSE

    Capt YAAM Yapa (O/67807) from 2 Mechanized infantry has achieved 1st place of Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare Junior Command Course-18, which held at Army Training school - Maduruoya from 16 January 2017 to 08 April 2017. He has shown best performances throughout the course and achieved first place out of 21 student officers which included 4 foreign officers from India, Pakistan and Nepal.

  • FIRST PLACE WON BY THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY NCO FROM THE CLERK COURSE

    S/826773 Cpl Pradeep Kumara WL of 2 Mechanized Infantry achieved the first place out of 120 students of the Clerk Course held at Thisawewa from 10th January 2017 to 08th April 2017.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT VISIT TO RANAVIRU SEWANA RAGAMA

    The Ladies Club of Mechanized Infantry Regiment visited the Ranaviru Sewana, Ragama on 27 May 2017 according to annual programme of Ladies Club. The president Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga, Vice President Mrs. Fredrica Atapattu, Secretary Mrs. Dulka Herath and 20 members participated for the event. President and the members visited the wards and distributed fruit baskets among the differently abled soldiers. The Centre Commandant Col HMU Herath RWP RSP psc and many other senior officers/officers also attended for the event. To conclude the visit, the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club donated six elbow crutches to Lt Col BL Ranasinghe (CO Ranaviru Sewana) for use of differently abled soldiers at the Ranaviru Sevana.
