  • THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB VISIT TO "ABIMANSALA 1"

    The Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club members, headed by the President Mrs Dhammika Hathurusinghe, visited to Anuradhapura on 27th June 2015 to interact with the inmates at "Abimansala 1" wellness resort for dependent War Heroes who are receiving rehabilitation and medical attention.

    An inmate received the visiting the President Mrs Dhammika Hathurusinghe, offering a sheaf of betel and welcomed them to the "Abimansala 1". Mrs Dhammika Hathurusinghe at first inquired into disable War Heroes and presented value gifts pack them and donated a Heavy Duty Steam Iron to the "Abimansala 1". The Centre Commandant, Commanding Officers and officers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment were associated with this event.

  • GUARD OF HONOUR TO COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE BY TROOPS OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

    The newly-appointed Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala, paid his first formal visit to the Army Headquarters to call on Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army on 30th June 2015.\r\n\r\nA formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) at the Ministry of Defence grounds greeted the guest who inspected the parade and received the honours. He was received by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General on arrival at the ground.

  • CENTRE COMDT VISITED THE 2 MIR

    Colonel LS Balachandra, Centre Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre visited the 2nd Bn the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (2 MIR) on 2nd July 2015. He was accorded with a Guard Turnout presented by the ceremonial guard of the 2 MIR and warmly welcome by the CO - 2 MIR. The Centre Commandant addressed troops of 2 MIR and he was invited to plant a tree sapling to signify the symbolic memory of his visit to the place.

  • CENTRE COMDT DECLARED OPEN THE BUDDHA STATUE, PLACED AT MITC PREMISES

    Colonel LS Balachandra, Centre Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre visited to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) on 2nd July 2015 and declared open the Buddha statue, placed at MITC premises. He was accorded with a Guard Turnout presented by the ceremonial guard of the MITC and warmly welcome by the Commandant - MITC.

  • LT COL RARB RAMANAYAKE RSP CELEBRATED HIS 50TH BIRTHDAY

    Lt Col RARB Ramanayake RSP celebrated his 50th birth day at the Officers\' Mess - MIRC on 14th September 2015. The Centre Commandant, Col LS Balachandra RSP and Staff Officers of the MIRC participated in this special occasion of his life.

  • CENTRE COMDT VISITED THE 3 MIR

    Colonel LS Balachandra RSP, Centre Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre visited the 3rd Bn of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Welikanda on 15 September 2015. He was accorded with a Guard Turnout presented by the ceremonial guard of the 3 MIR and warmly welcome by the Commanding Officer and all ranks. He addressed troops of 3 MIR, then; He declared open the welfare shopping complex and invited to plant a tree sapling to signify the symbolic memory of his visit.

  • Poson Dansela

    The Ladies Club - Mechanized Infantry Regiment organized a “Mal Dansela” with distributing Lotus Flowers, Koththamali drink and Biscuts at religious functions were held on 2nd June 2015 at Rangiri Dambulla Temple in conjunction with the National Poson Poya Celebrations.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY

    Officers' Training Day was held at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Headquarters on 19 August 2015 with the participation of more than 79 officers as per the directives of Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen M Hathurusinghe RSP ndc IG. The Training Day commenced with Physical Training and Drill sessions. After that, Colonel of the Regiment addressed all officers during his opening remarks stating the importance of officers\' training day.

  • MAJOR GENERAL AM PERERA RWP RSP psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS 5TH COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

    Major General AM Perera RWP RSP psc assumed office as the 5th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 15th Oct 2015 in a grandiose ceremony held at Regimental Headquarters,Dambuluhalmillawewa. At the auspicious time, Colonel of the Regiment placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the appointment in the presence of Centre Commandant, Brigade Commander, Other Senior Officers, all Commanding Officers and staff of RHQ after a brief religious observances and lighting of the Traditional Oil Lamp.The day's events also textured with a All Ranks Address and Tea Party at Office Complex. Large numbers of officers including Council Members were present to greet the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment.

  • OPENING THE HARITHA PIYASA & THURU PIYASA HOLIDAY BUNGALOWS

    Two holiday resorts, namely "Thuru Piyasa" and "Haritha Piyasa" were also opened by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe. These resorts are equipped with 8 rooms and a gymnasium.
