  • MITC EQUIPPED WITH NEW OFFICE COMPLEX AND MODEL ROOMS

    Adding more facilities to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC), newly constructed office complex and Model Rooms were ceremonially opened by the Col of the Regt Maj Gen J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc at the invitation of Lt Col G P P Kulatilaka Commandant MITC on 02 Oct 2017.

    On arrival of Col of the Regt to the MITC premises, warmly welcome by the Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade - Brigadier HMS Herath with the Centre Commandant Col H M U Herath RWP RSP psc and Comdt - MITC Lt Col G P P Kulatilaka. Col of the Regt unveil a plaque to symbolize the officially inauguration of the new office complex and Model Rooms.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT LADIES CLUB VISITED THE ABIMANSALA I

    The president and members of Mechanized Infantry Regiment Ladies Club visited the Abimansala I, Anuradapura on 07 October 2017. The event was scheduled according to the year planner of ASVU. The main aim of this visit was to pay a courtesy to differently abled war heroes who were seriously injured during the humanitarian operation. The president Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga, Vice President Mrs. Fredrica Atapattu with other members visited wards and distributed gift items to the differently abled soldiers. Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, the Centre Commandant Col HMU Herath RWP RSP psc with Commanding Officers and many other senior officers/officers also attended for the event. Members of the Ladies Club offered a delicious lunch for the differently abled soldiers\' and organized a musical entertainment session to uplift their morale. Concluding the visit, the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club donated some necessary items to the Abimansala for the benefit of the differently abled war heroes.

  • COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT VISITED MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE AND BATTALIONS

    The Colonel of the Regiment Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc paid his first official visit to Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry, 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry and 5th (V) Battalion Mechanized Infantry on 12th and 13th November 2017. On 12th morning the Colonel of the Regiment with Centre Comdt Col H M U Herath RWP RSP psc and Regimental Staff Officers arrived to Mechanized Infantry Brigade and warmly welcomed by Brigadier H M S Herath Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade. A formal Guard Turnout presented to the visiting Colonel of the Regiment. Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade conducted a presentation on development of infrastructure facilities in Brigade Headquarters. Then Brigade Commander invited Colonel of the Regiment to visit the camp premises. Afterwards, planting of a tree sapling and sitting for a group photograph with Brigade Staff were among major segments in the day's itinerary at the Mechanized Infantry Brigade Headquarters.Then Colonel of the Regiment visited 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry.   • INTER BATTALION VOLLEY BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment Inter Battalion Volley Ball championship was held on 10th, 11th and 12th November 2017 at 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry playground. The event was organized under the close supervision of Commanding Officer 4 Mechanized Infantry Lt Col H A A N C Prabhath RSP USP. Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc grace the occasion as the Chief Guest for the final game. Commander, 553 Brigade - Brigadier A G D N Jayasundera RWP RSP, Centre Comdt Col H M U Herath RWP RSP psc with many senior officers of Mechanized Infantry Regiment and SF (J) AOR attended for the event. Final game was held inbetween 3 Mechanized Infantry and 4 Mechanized Infantry. After competitive game 3 Mechanized Infantry won the championship of Inter Battalion Volley Ball competition and 4 Mechanized Infantry became as runners up. After the awarding ceremony Colonel of the Regiment and all invitees were invited for the Dinner at the Officers' Mess.

  • OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY

    The Officers' Training Day of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment was conducted on 10 November 2017, with the participation of large number of Officers at the Regimental Centre. \r\n\r\nTraining Day programme was directed by Centre Comdt Col H M U Herath RWP RSP psc under the guidance of Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc.\r\nThe day\'s proceedings were commenced with the Physical Training. Then Drill session conducted for junior officers at the parade ground. Afterwards Book Review on 'India 2020' written by former Indian President Mohomed Abdul Kalam was conducted by Captain M M Y W Fernando - 2 Mech Inf. A group presentation on "Qatar Isolation and its effect to the World, Religion and Local Affairs" was conducted by the CO and group of officers of 4 Mech Inf. Culminating the Training Day's proceeding a "Dinners' Club Session" was held at the Regimental Officers' Mess on Officering, Leadership and Regimentation by Veteran Lecturer Brig H N Halangode (Retd) RWP RSP USP USACGSC.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY TROOPS AND APCs ARE READY FOR THE UN PEACE KEEPING MISSION IN MALI

    Sri Lanka Army a new contingent of Combat Convoy Company (CCC) for another UN Peace Keeping Mission is scheduled to leave the island for Mali in December for a period of one year. The Mechanized Infantry Regiment also contributes 1 x 10 troops and APCs for the UN Peace Keeping Mission (Combat Convoy Company) in Mali. In conformity with traditions, the formal military parade of the Mali bound CCC of the Sri Lanka Army got underway on 30 Nov at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) parade ground - Panagoda. The Mali contingent formally accorded their salute to the day's Chief Guest, Major General K A D A Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Army in accordance with military traditions and he reviewed the parade.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY ROWER SELECTED FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING CAMP IN CHINA

    The Mechanized Infantry Rower S/829471 Pte Karunarathna P G C S who qualified for the final round of Asian Rowing Championship 2017 has selected to participate for International Rowing High Performance Training Camp in China representing Sri Lanka from 27 November 2017 to 26 January 2018 .This training camp will be a good opportunity for him to enhance his skills and reach to the Asian level medal in next year (2018).The Chairman, Army Rowing Committee Maj Gen J R Kulatunga RSP ndc, psc paid his blessing and complements to the 2 Army players who were selected for Training Camp in China. The Mechanized Infantry Regiment donated financial sponsorship to S/829471 Pte Karunarathna P G C S and it was officially handed over by the Col of the Regiment Maj Gen J R Kulatunga RSP ndc, psc to encourage and appreciate his talents.

  • 1ST PLACE OF BATTALION SUPPORT WEAPON COURSE- 73

    Capt D M T S Dissanayake (O/68705) from 2 Mechanized infantry secured 1st place of Battalion Support Weapon Course- 73, which held at Infantry Training Centere - Minneriya from 05 September 2017 to 02 December 2017. He has shown best performances throughout the course and achieved first place out of 36 student officers which included 2 Naval and 1 STF officer.

  • THE DELEGATION FROM INDIAN ARMY MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENTAL CENTRE VISITED MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

    The delegation from Indian Army Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre visited Mechanized Infantry Regiment Dambuluhalmillawewa and Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) from 18 December 2017 to 24 December 2017. The visiting delegation comprised with Colonel G Suresh, Major Vishwa Jeet Kumar and NB Subedar Kalu Ram. The visit was organized as follow up action of Army to Army Staff talk between Sri Lanka and India. The Centre Commandant, Colonel H M U Herath RWP RSP psc with Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre warmly received the visiting delegation.

  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY OFFICERS' FAMILY GET-TOGETHER 2017

    The Officers' Family Get-together 2017 was held at the Officers' Mess premises on 30 December 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment Major General Ruwan Kulatunga graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brig Shantha Herath, the Centre Commandant Colonel Udaya Herath and other senior Officers/Officers along with their families. All participants were gifted with a valuable hamper.

    The event was begun with a glamorous display of fireworks. Games such as Musical Chair, Hat Passing, Air Rifle shooting, Breaking Tins, Duck and Ring and Throwing Darts were there for fun and entertainment. Sri Lankan, Indian and Arabian food and beverage stalls were there to have variety of food experience.
