All Regular Battalions are operationally under command to the Mechanized Infantry Brigade for its classic IFV Role and the 1st and 2nd Mechanized Infantry Regiments are also under command to 522 and 213 Inf Bdes respectively. Headquarters of Mechanized Infantry Brigade 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, 5th (Volunteer) Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Mechanized Infantry Training Centre are deployed in Wanni Theatre. 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment is deployed in Jaffna Theatre. The Battalion Headquarters of 3rd and 4th Mechanized Infantry Regiments are deployed at Welikanda and Maberiyatenna areas respectively. Their Companies are deployed covering all over the Country.
