Mrs Chithrani Gunaratne assumed duties as the new President of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club and the ceremony was held at the Officers Mess, Sri Lanka Artillery Regimental Centre, Panagoda on 1st March 2016. The Colonel of the Regiment Major General GDHK Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc and the Centre Commandant Colonel LS Balachandra RSP also participated to this event. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the new President and senior members of the Ladies Club marked the commencement of the day's proceedings.
New President Mrs Chithrani Gunaratne addressed the members of the Ladies Club and made a brief description of the activities she intends to implement during her tenure as the President of Ladies Club. During the inaugural committee meeting, current office bearers and other members of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club were introduced and extended their best wishes to the new president.
