A mega family get-together for all Officers' in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment got off at the Officers' Mess permises on Thursday 29 December 2016. The social event came about as a proposal of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc as one more event in the event calendar where beloved families of the officers, specially the kids were given pride of place in the arrangement which was full of sprit end enthusiasm.
The fabulous event was graced by the Colonel of the Regiment, as the Chief Guest. The Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers and their beloved families were participated in the event.
The event was began with a glamorous display of fireworks and comprised of number of entertaining features such as Music & Dancing sessions, Kids Corner, Games Stalls for kids and ladies (shooting of Air Rifles, Breaking Tins, Duck & Ring, Balloon Dance, Hat Passing etc.) and variety of outdoor food stalls.
The most attractive and coloured musical event was the Symphony' which was performed by the Regimental Beat Group, Brass Band and by the instruments of Cultural Dancing troupe,
The following day morning, the Ladies Club organized an another event for the families of both officers and other ranks in the Regiment which is also included distribution of School Books for all school children of Other Ranks and an art competition for kids. The days event was colourful with the workshop conducted for Ladies club members by Mrs. Sujiva Withana, Manager - Culinery Education, Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC.
