  • MECHANIZED INFANTRY “RANAVIRU UDANAYA - 2019” ATTRACT HUGE CROWDS

    10th consecutive the Mechanized Infantry Ranaviru Udanaya - 2019 organized by the Mechanized Infantry Regiment was successfully held on 30th and 31st August and 01 September 2019 at the Gam Udawa grounds Dambulla.

  • OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    Brigadier AMSB Atapattu - the Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment paid his first official visit to 3rd Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (3 MIR) and 4th Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (4 MIR) on 12th and 13th July 2019.

  • OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT

    The Colonel of the Regiment Brigadier AMSB Atapattu paid his first official visit to the Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC), 1st Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (1 MIR) and 2nd Battalion the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (2 MIR) on 02nd and 03rd July 2019. On 02nd morning the Colonel of the Regiment arrived to the Mechanized Infantry Brigade and he was warmly welcomed by the Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier L S Balachandra RSP. A formal Guard Turnout presented to the visiting Colonel of the Regiment. The Centre Commandant Colonel S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP with Regiment Staff Officers also accompanied with the Colonel of the Regiment. Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment was invited to open the newly-constructed Officers' Mess complex at the Brigade Headquarters. He warmed the new Officers' Mess after cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque.

  • 12TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB

    The 12th Annual General Meeting of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club was held on 22nd June at the Officers' Mess, Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police with the participation of Spouses of Mechanized Infantry Officers.

  • THE CENTRE COMMANDANT VISTED 4 MIR

    The Centre Commandant, Colonel S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP paid his first official visit to 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 31st May 2019. The Centre Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer, Maj WGMR Mahawidana RSP and a formal Guard Turnout presented to the visiting Centre Commandant. Commanding Officer conducted a presentation on operational and administrative matters of the battalion. Thereafter, Centre Commandant addressed all Officers and Other Ranks of the unit. He inspected soldiers welfare facilities and other requirement. The Centre Commandant planted a sapling to mark his first official visit to 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

  • NEWLY CONSTRUCTED ACCOMMODATION BUILDING VESTED TO THE SOLDIERS UTILISATION

    The newly constructed accommodation building was vested to the Officers' Mess staff during a simple ceremony on 06 June 2019. The Colonel of the Regiment Brigadier A M S B Atapattu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The project was completed with Regimental funds and manpower support of Mechanized Infantry soldiers. During the ceremony Colonel of the Regiment unveiled the main plaque, giving memories to the occasion.

  • THE REFURBISHED HOUSE OF LATE SERGEANT WIJEKUMARA S S HANDED OVER TO FAMILY MEMBERS

    The refurbished house of late Sergeant Wijekumara S S of Mechanized Infantry Regiment who died in UN mission-Mali, officially handed over to his family members on 20 April 2019 during the simple ceremony. The event was graced by the Colonel of the Regiment, Brigadier A M S B Atapattu, the Centre Commandant, Colonel S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP and Regimental Staff Officers.

  • 'THRIPITAKABHIVANDANA' SPECIAL PROGRAMME

    'Thripitaka' (Three Great Canons) which has encompassed all pristine teachings of the Buddha centuries ago at historic Aluviharaya in Matale is regarded as the most authentic and well-documented scriptures of Buddhist learning, scripted in Ola-leaves and treasured for generations. On the direction of the Presidential Secretariat, it was declared as World Heritage considering its historic value.

  • OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY 2019 - I

    The Mechanized Infantry Regiment Officers' Training Day 2019 - I conducted at the Regimental Centre on 23 March 2019. The Colonel of the Regiment, Senior Officers/Officers including officers on ERE also participated for the Training Day programme.

  • INTER REGIMENT PRACTICAL RIFLE MEET - 2019

    The Mechanized Infantry firing team achieved Second Place from “Novice Team Championship” of the annual Inter Regiment practical Rifle Shooting Meet conducted from 11March to 18 Marchat 1000 m firing range Diyatalawa. The event was organized by the Army Small Arms Association.
