Lieutenant Colonel J M A Jayasekara RSP USP took over the duties as the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 23rd April 2020 with simply arranged religious observances. After officially taking over the duties at his office, he addressed all Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre in order to continue the smooth execution of the Regimental matters.

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 13th anniversary giving prominence to the religious activities. The whole night Pirith Chanting followed by Almsgiving was held on 07 March 2020 at the Regimental Centre to invoke blessing to the Regiment.
