MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT LAUNCHED A TREE SAPLING PLANTING PROGRAMME

"Wana Ropa" national tree planting programme has been launched island wide by the government to protect special echo systems and promote forest cultivation around the country.

To coincide with the ongoing 'Wana Ropa' national tree planting drive, Mechanized Infantry Regiment launched a tree sapling planting programme inside the Regimental Centre premises on 04 November 2018.

The event was organized with the direction of the Colonel of the Regiment Brigadier A M S B Atapattu and close supervision of the Overlooking Centre Commandant Lieutenant Colonel K K S Perakum RWP RSP. The project was sponsored by Defence Services War Disabled Officers Association. During the brief ceremony headed by the Colonel of the Regiment with Senior Officers and Other Ranks who are serving in the Regimental Centre planted about 1800 saplings as 1st stage of the programme.
