    As of this morning (24), a total of 2,196 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them, 18 were Sri Lankan expatriates. The rest 2,178 were locally-identified positive cases, including the majority 436 from Gampaha District, 324 from Kalutara District, 318 from Colombo District and 1,100 from different other Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • Army Initiative Gets Free Medical Devices to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital

    An initiative taken by the 231 Brigade HQ of the 23 Division in Batticaloa resulted in the donation of an assortment of vital medical accessories for use among COVID-19 victims and other patients at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.

    As of this morning (23), a total of 2,093 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them, 22 were Sri Lankan expatriates. The rest 2,071 were locally-identified positive cases, including the majority 364 from Gampaha District, 322 from Colombo District, 292 from Kalutara District and 1,093 from different other Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • Troops Renovate & Convert Mullaitivu Hospital Ward to Serve as ICC

    The completely renovated and re-established ward for Covid -19 patients as an ICC at Mullaittivu Hospital was declared open on 16 June 2021 in the presence of the Commander, SF-MLT and health authorities. The renovation was done on the instructions of health authorities and Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander Security Forces - Mullaitivu.

  • Troops Convert Vavuniya Ayurveda Hospital to Serve as an ICC in the Wanni

    Troops-converted Siddi Ayurveda Hospital in Vavuniya to serve as a new Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) for COVID-19 patients which has a capacity of 100 beds and vested it in health authorities on Wednesday (16) after initiative to this effect was taken by Major General Nandana Dunuwila, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division.

  • Troops on Request Expand Laboratory at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital

    231 Brigade troops in Batticaloa in order to be prepared for conduct of more and more clinical tests in the event of any surge in COVID-19 victims, provided assistance to renovate and expand the Teaching Hospital's Covid -19 diagnostic laboratory in Batticaloa.

  • Convention Centre Converted to an ICC to Serve 300 Patients

    The Army after undertaking the task of converting the famous Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo to serve as an ICC completed the project and formally handed it over to health authorities on Thursday (17).

  • BASL Delegates During Meet with Head, NOCPCO Seek Possibilities of Resumption of Court Proceedings

    A high level delegation of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) on Monday (14) called on General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), at the Army HQ and had a cordial meeting with him over several concerns, related to their professional work.
