One more session of the Task Force in the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Battaramulla was held this afternoon (15), headed by General Shavendra Silva, Head of the NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, together with Director General of Health Services, Dr Asela Gunawardena.

General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army participating in the ‘Big Focus’ of the ‘24 x 7 Derana’ live programme this morning (14) at 11.00 am asserted that all civilians above 30 years in the country would be given the COVID-19 vaccine by September 2021 as per directions of HE the President.

The general public above 30 years of age in the Western Province are able to get the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine at the Colombo Vihara Maha Devi Park open theatre, beginning Thursday (15 July 2021), the latest Community Vaccination Centre, to be manned by Army Medical teams. The programme is held between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm from Thursday (15) onwards until further notice.

The Army-managed and the Seva Vanitha-organized vaccination project, giving a further boost to the island-wide national vaccination programme on the directive of HE the President this morning (12) inaugurated one more phase by inoculating the country’s teacher community in the Western Province at the Colombo Army Hospital.
