Troops Renovate & Convert Mullaitivu Hospital Ward to Serve as ICC

The completely renovated and re-established ward for Covid -19 patients as an ICC at Mullaittivu Hospital was declared open on 16 June 2021 in the presence of the Commander, SF-MLT and health authorities. The renovation was done on the instructions of health authorities and Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander Security Forces - Mullaitivu.

Troops of the Security Force HQ - Mullaitivu threw their weight behind realization of the project, the converted ICC can accommodate 24 patients and is equipped with all medical facilities.

General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the brainchild behind enhancing of the bed capacity and ICCs in line with the sudden increase of infected ones around the county, instructed Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaitivu to take prompt action for the conversion of this centre for an ICC within a few days.

For this ward all medical equipment, beds, mattresses and pillows were donated by the Sri Lanka Podujana Engineers front, together with Medical Officers at Mullaittivu Hospital including Mr Vjitha Herath Yapa, Chairman Podujana Engineers front, Coordinating Officer, Engineer Ranil Priyadarshan, Engineer Nishantha Gunathilake, Director Northcentral Road Development Authority, Engineer K Ariyarathna, Medical Specialist Dr Sandaruwan Bandara, Anesthesiologist Mullaitivu Hospital, Medical specialist Dr Indrarathna Nimalshantha, Anesthesiologist Mullaitivu Hospital, Dr Sudesh Maduwantha, Dr Srilath Panditha and a few others.
