Troops on Request Expand Laboratory at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital

231 Brigade troops in Batticaloa in order to be prepared for conduct of more and more clinical tests in the event of any surge in COVID-19 victims, provided assistance to renovate and expand the Teaching Hospital's Covid -19 diagnostic laboratory in Batticaloa.

On the directions of the General Officer Commanding of the 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswaththa, the project was effectively completed by 231 Brigade troops under the direct supervision of their Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi.

On Friday (18) the expanded and renovated laboratory was handed over to the Teaching Hospital staff formally by the Commander 231 Brigade during a brief meet.

The task was carried out by the troops in response to a request made by the Director Teaching Hospital Dr. Mrs K Gneshalingam and Microbiologist Dr Thevakanthan.

Troops completed the task in less than a day.
