Marking a novel chapter in the history of Sri Lanka Army Rifle Corps and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, the newly established Coordinating Office of SLRC and SLAPC was ceremonially inaugurated with the precedence of Major General J D C G Jayasinghe KSV KSP the Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 11 February 2021.

Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya VSV USP ndu USACGSC relinquished the appointment of Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) today (25 October). The formalities observed at the Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out. The Senior Officer was received by Brigadier Administration of the SLAVF Brigadier J D C G Jayasinghe and Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel S A Y Perera SLNG on his arrival to the camp premises.

Amid a gathering of his past military comrades and scores of mourners, late Major General Sanath Kumara Vamadewa Panabokke (Retd) bade farewell to the Nation during a military funeral that took place at the Colombo General Cemetery on Monday (07) evening. He passed away on Friday (04) at the age of 85 years.
