In the wake of a couple of years past mingled with barrenness due to societal concerns of the country and the globe, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Athletics Championships – 2022, one of the major itineraries of this year, was successfully realized crowning the collective endeavor waiting to be as a possible certainty, and the closing ceremony of the Sri Lanka Army, Volunteer Force, Para and Novices Athletics Championships - 2022 was taken place integratedly at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama on 04th August 2022 with the gracious presence of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu as the Chief Guest.

Amidst bliss of warming the new “Headquarters Complex” on new soil, an all-night pirith chanting ceremony seeks blessing on shifting to the new camp premises under the auspicious of Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force was held on 25 July 2022 at the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force.

In realizing a prolonged-felt major necessity of the Volunteer Force, the Headquarters Complex which added glamoured to the SLAVF formally inaugurated by the top brass in the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage the Commander of the Army at the invitation of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, the Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force during a formal ceremony this morning (23rd July).

In view of restoration of the eco-system of the Volunteer Force and transforming the soldiers as green soldiers with the intention of forming a green brigade, the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force took initiatives for planting more than 2000 endemic, indigenous and lessor known fruit saplings in order to implement the green concept at the camp premises on 28 July 2022.
