In recognition of exceptional, distinguished and loyal service rendered over thirty six years to the nation with an unblemished record of moral and military conduct as a regular force senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu, the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force cum the Colonel of the Regiment in Sri Lanka Artillery has been awarded Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya Medal (VSV) by the Honourable President Ranil Wickremesinghe who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces during a glittering ceremony taken place in President’s House in Kandy on 01 February 2023.

Fulfilling the paucity of professional requirement of the Sri Lanka Army, the Commandant SLAVF, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu, welcomed Consultant Anesthetist J M Abeynarayana who joined hands with the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer General Reserve in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Yet another set of newly commissioned officers joins the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force to serve their biddings to the motherland. Portraying the gist of comradeship, the care and affection of Officer Corps of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, the Commandant Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu, accompanied by the Deputy Commandant and all Officers of Volunteer Force Headquarters warmly welcomed the young officers of Volunteer Intakes 61, 61 A and Lady Intake 18 to the Volunteer Force in a brief and meaning full ceremony on 10 January 2023 at the Volunteer Force Headquarters.

Heralding the dawn of the New Year 2023, the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force initiated the work of the first working day on 01 January 2023 having accomplished the customary military formalities presided by Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Amidst commencement of the work in the dawned new year, three (03) Warrant Officers who were commissioned to the rank of Lieutenant as Quartermasters and currently been performing duties in the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force received their insignia from Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 02 January 2023 at the Commandant’s Office of the Headquarters, SLAVF.
