SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE HONOURS BRIGADIER YGPN JAYARATNE RSP PRIOR TO RETIREMENT

Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) paid its tribute of appreciation for Brigadier YGPN Jayaratne RSP at the Headquarters of SLAVF on 18 March 2024 upon his retirement WEF 27 March 2024. At the retirement the Senior Officer was holding the Office of Brigadier Coordinator at Security Force Headquarters Mullativue.

Major General MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu - the Commandant of SLAVF together with Major General Thusitha Silva KSP - the Deputy Commandant of SLAVF awarded the Senior Officer a special memento with a certificate of appreciation for his commendable service to the Sri Lanka Army and extended the gratitude and honour for his professional undertakings, loyalty and integration in achieving organizational interest at every phenomenon.

Brigadier YGPN Jayaratne RSP enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 23 January 1991 with the Volunteer Intake 14. He is an alumnus of the prestigious training establishment - Sri Lanka Military Academy – Diyatalawa. He was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on 15 June 1991. After being steadily elevated to the subsequent ranks over three decades in the Sri Lanka Army, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier with effect from 10 October 2023.

Brigadier YGPN Jayaratne RSP is an exemplary personality who obliged to his assignments of liabilities beyond the expectations of the establishment serving both in operational and non-operational areas performing his duties, ensuring the highest eminence of the Sri Lanka Army. Some of the key appointments he held during his illustrious career are; Colonel Finance - Headquarters SLAVF, Colonel - Coordinating Officer – 12 Infantry Division Hambanthota, Commanding Officer - Civil Security Department - Kanthale and Seruwawila, Civil Affairs Officer - 64 Infantry Division in Mullativue, Civil Affairs Officer - 111 Infantry Brigade in Kandy, Civil Affairs Officer - 112 Infantry Brigade in Badulla, Commanding Officer - 10th Battalion - Sri Lanka National Guard and also many other senior appointments such as the Chief Instructor – Volunteer Force Training School in Kothmale and Officer Instructor – Volunteer Fore Training School in Diyathalawa. He has also served as a Company Commander – 2nd and 11th Battalions of SLSR and as a Platoon Commander – 2nd Battalion of SLASR.

The Senior Officer is a professionally sound military stance who has a vast exposure to military and non-military courses. Brigadier YGPN Jayaratne RSP has been awarded with gallantry and service recognitions for his dedicated service rendered to the nation.
