Accrediting honour and respect towards one of the oldest establishments which perpetrates as a Training School of the Sri Lanka Army (since 1903), Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG made a formal observation visit to the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS) on 26 March 2021 after assumption of duties as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF ).

Accrediting due respect and salutation towards the oldest and the first Battalion in the Sri Lanka Army (then Ceylon Volunteer), Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG, the Commandant - SLAVF made his first formal visit to 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 23 March 2021 upon his assuming office as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG assumed duties on 28 February 2021 as the 45th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force after a formal military customs being accomplished in keeping with military traditions at the Volunteer Force Headquarters Premises at Seethawaka.

Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force bade farewell to Major General JMUD Jayasinghe upon his relinquishment of the office as Commandant and retirement from the Sri Lanka Army. In honour of his service to the organization a formal farewell dinner was accorded at the officers’ Mess, HQ SLAVF on 25 February 2021. He was the 44th Commandant of the prestigious Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. At the arrival of Commandant and his lady, Mrs WA D Deepthi Champika to the officers’ Mess were warmly welcomed by Deputy Commandant of the SLAVF Major General JDCG Jayasinghe KSV KSP. Beloved son, Dinul and daughter, Dilsha of Major General JMUD Jayasinghe also attended the event. The glimpse of honorable participants with their ladies coloured the wonderful evening by creating joyful memories which last forever.

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS) as the utmost establishment in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force which facilitates an array of streams for upgrading the Training and Wisdom, deserves the salutation of every member of the Volunteer Force and the organization for execution of its prime role and task to the best interest of the Sri Lanka Army. Enhancing its way forward, it is commendable that the Training School of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force is being resourced and upgraded with conducive environment which reinforces qualitative training under every command. Accordingly, Commandant, SLAVF Major General J M U D Jayasinghe made a formal visit as the Chief Guest to the Volunteer Force Training School on the invitation of the Commandant VFTS Colonel H A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc at Diyathalawa on 17 February 2021 (Wednesday). In honour of Commandant SLAVF a Guard Turnout was accorded on his arrival to the camp premises and he was warmly received by Commandant VFTS.
