NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS CALL ON THE COMMANDANT OF THE VOLUNTEER FORCE

The senior officers and officers who received promotion on the Independence Anniversary Day called on Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force at the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force on 06 February 2023.

In the record of the history of Volunteer Force, a total of 113 Officers and 5617 Other Ranks were promoted to their respective next ranks on account of the 75th National Independence Anniversary Day (February 4). 03 Colonels who have been elevated to the one –star General rank in the Volunteer Force include Colonel BJ Lekamge RSP KSP, Colonel HA Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, and Colonel N Mahawithana KSP.

Amongst the officers thus promoted, 10 Lieutenant Colonels to the rank of Colonel, 10 Majors to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, 25 Captains to the rank of Major, 08 Lieutenants to the rank of Captain, 09 Lieutenants (QM) to the rank of Captain (QM) and 48 Second Lieutenants to the rank of Lieutenant have been promoted in the Officers' category. In the category of Other Ranks, a total of 58 Warrant Officers-II to the rank of Warrant Officer-I, 119 Staff Sergeants to the rank of Warrant Officer-II, 227 Sergeants to the rank of Staff Sergeant, 595 Corporals to the rank of Sergeant, 793 Lance Corporals to the rank of Corporal and 3825 Privates to the rank of Lance Corporal have also been promoted.

As a customary feature, few officers received their rank insignias from the Commandant at the Commandant’s Office. The gathering of newly promoted officers had an inspiring session with the Commandant and significant undertakings vested in the respective ranks were spelled out highlighting the distinctive career juncture that would inevitably serve as a motivating impulse to their services.

As well, the newly promoted officers attended the occasion, had a cordial interaction with Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and other Senior Officers during their formal visit to the Headquarters.

At this milestone of juncture, the Commandant extended his best compliments for all the newly promoted officers and other ranks in the Volunteer Force. Senior Officers and Officers who presented the occasion paid their sincere tributes upon their promotions.
