ARRANGEMENTS MARK 142ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE VOLUNTEER FORCE

Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force accomplishing its untiring duties and responsibilities to the motherland over its proud history, reached its 142nd juncture on 01 April 2023. This was proudly marked by organizing a series of events at the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) under the auspices of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, the commandant, SLAVF.

Invoking blessings on the Volunteer Force, a Dhamma Sermon was conducted by Ven. Kebithigolewe Amarathissa Thero, the incumbent at Gosinga Aranya Senasana, Atambagaskada,Medawachchiya, and all its merits were bestowed on all those who laid down their lives for the motherland, wounded in action, and presently serving in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, on 30 March at the Headquarters premises. The programme was followed by offering alms to the Maha Sanga at the camp premises.

One more segment of a series of meritorious arrangements that invoked spiritual blessings, the day (31 March) was profusely arranged holding the loving companionship of residents of Sende Sewana Elders Home, Hanwella assisting the daily chorus, and it was followed by a lunch accorded to them.

As well, a troop of work force attended in enhancing the surrounding of Apekasha Hospital, Maharagama creating a pleasing environment to the hearts of weighing under varied health conditions.

Accordingly, the first working day was marked with the anniversary day message issued by the Commandant, on 03 April. In his message, officers, other ranks and civil employees were paid a special tribute of gratitude on their commitment, loyalty and integrity on the Volunteer Force behalf. Further, the decorum of the volunteering that consigned to preserve the sovereignty on this land with the expertise of professions and skills was commemorated with the solemn memory of Captain SWMSU Aladeniya who was the first recipient of Parama Weera Vibhushanaya. Thus, the Commandant extended his best compliments on the upgradation of the establishment in future.

The proceedings of schedules were successfully concluded with the overall supervision of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF, and Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks handed in accomplishing all the assigned arrangements.
