MAJOR GENERAL SANJAYA WANASINGHE RSP USP ndu REWARDS PRESTIGIOUS VSV MEDAL AND 75TH INDEPENDENCE DAY MEDAL IN GLITTERING CEREMONY

In recognition of exceptional, distinguished and loyal service rendered over thirty six years to the nation with an unblemished record of moral and military conduct as a regular force senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu, the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force cum the Colonel of the Regiment in Sri Lanka Artillery has been awarded Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya Medal (VSV) by the Honourable President Ranil Wickremesinghe who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces during a glittering ceremony taken place in President’s House in Kandy on 01 February 2023.

Prior to receive VSV medal, he has been conferred with Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) for his individual acts of bravery and distinguished conduct in the face of the enemy during active deployment. Further, he has been awarded Uttama Sewa Padakkama (USP) for his valuable service and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit, exemplary conduct counted over 15 years of continuous, uninterrupted and unblemished record of service. Moreover, his military tunic is also decorated with numerous medals including East Humanitarian Medal, North Humanitarian Operation Medal, Purna Bhumi Padakkama, North and East Operations Medal, Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Medal, Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal, Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal, Sevabhimani Medal and Service Medal.

State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Chief of Staff of the President and Senior Advisor to the President, Mr Sagala Ratnayake, Secretary to the President, Mr E.M.S.B Ekanayake, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunarathne, Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana , representative gathering of retired and serving Tri Service Officers and their spouses attended the conferment ceremony.
