Mrs Udari Gamage officially assumed the esteemed position of President of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch during a dignified ceremony held on 10 December, at the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock.
Upon her arrival, Mrs Udari Gamage was warmly welcomed by Mrs Shyamalee Tennakoon, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch.The inauguration commenced with religious observances, followed by the formal installation of Mrs Udari Gamage as President, signified by her signature on official documents according to the traditions.
Subsequently, Mrs Udari Gamage engaged in a productive dialogue with the Seva Vanitha Branch members, discussing upcoming events and the necessary preparation for their successful execution.

A newly constructed library complete with 200 books was declared open by the SVB wing of SLACAL for the patronage of all officers and soldiers. Prominence was given to this visionary project, with the intent of boosting knowledge and language amongst the young generation within the regiment.
This innovative ingenious idea was initiated by the President Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge who is herself a poet. Under her leadership the Centre Commandant, Brig TMSJ Tennakoon RSP setup this facility with all necessary amenities. The opening ceremony was held on 01st December 2024 with a vibrant gathering of many SVB members and other regimental officers.
Mr. Kalana C Wakista - School of Agriculture & Livestock, Mrs. Nilanka Rathnayaka and a few other ladies generously donated many valuable books to expand the variety of literature.
Centre Commandant, Senoir officers, Officers & Seva Vanitha members attended this significant event while Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge graced the inauguration ceremony as Chief Guest on invitation.

The 8th monthly meeting of The Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock SVB was held on 01 December 2024 at the Regimental Centre, Karandeniya. Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge, chairperson of the seva vanitha branch graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
A total of 10 members plus 3 lady officers filled the auditorium at this occasion.
The Highlight of the event was, donating Rs.600,000.00 (Six Hundred Thousand) to lay the foundation stone and begin construction of the second house in SLACAL. The luckey soldier belonging to 4(V)SLACAL was selected through board proceeding and selected as deserving since he and his family of four lacked a proper shelter.
Further a medical of Rs.100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand) was gifted to a deserving soldier belonging to 2(V) SLACAL.
The president while congratulating the SVB SLACAL ladies for having completed 25 projects in just 8 months thanked her committee, the four CO's spouses, all lady officers and everyone involved in making the SVB SLACAL a great success.

The monthly meeting of SVB - SLACAL for month of October was held on 26th October 2024 at the Regimental centre, Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock - Karandeniya.
President of the Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Varuni Kulatunge presided over the meeting.
During the meeting, the chairperson Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge asked to look into the possibility of building toilet systems for nearby schools and donating garbage bins as community hospitality programs for month of November.
The Committee and other members of SVB SLACAL participated for the above event.

The Seva Vanitha Branch of SLACAL extended the hands of compassion in charity by donating 50 essential item packs for Pregnant mothers from SLACAL as well as from the surrounding villages of Ambalangoda, Elpitiya & Karandeniya Divisional secretariats.The event took place at the regimental headquarters on 26th Oct '24 in Karandeniya.
This social welfare project was the brainchild of the SVB SLACAL President Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge. She together with the membership collectively put together this gift pack which included all necessary items for mother & baby.
A healthy wholesome breakfast, morning tea and lunch was organised by the 2(V) CAL unit on the request of the President Mrs.Varuni with a view of providing nutritional meals for these underprivileged mothers. A timely lecture covering all important aspects of pre and post pregnancy was delivered by Dr T Praneeth and the mothers engaged in an educative question & answer session.
Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, Commander - Security Forces (East) & the Colonel Commandant of SLACAL graced the occasion as Chief Guest & the Centre Commandant along with senior officers, officers and SVB members attended this community service event, highlighting its significance.

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock organized an entertainment filled comradeship visit to the Abimansala - 2 Wellness Resort at Kaburupitiya on 25th Oct '24. The event was carried out under the guidance and direction of Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, Commander - Security Forces (East) and Colonel Commandant of SLACAL alongside the President of the SLACAL Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge.
Major General Shewanth Kulatunge together with Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge & other members of the SVB SLACAL spent quality time over evening tea with the resident war veterans.
Major Gen SA Kulatunge sharing his sentiments during an opening speech gave thanks to all those who sacrificed their yesterday for a better tomorrow for our motherland. He went on to express his gratitude to all the war heroes present at that moment, acknowledging them as the true Heroes in the endeavour to bring peace.
To commemorate this occasion, the SVB SLACAL donated an essential item pack for all 13 inmates, a dry ration pack for their 13 caregivers & essential sanitary items to maintain the facility. In addition, some sports equipment too were gifted to the facility.
The members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Centre Commandant along with other senior officers, spent time interacting with the war heroes and the office staff. The session also came alive with beautiful music from the live band performance .
Brigadier EADK Suriya Kumara USP, the Commandant of the 'Abimansala-2' Wellness Resort & all staff present at the occasion extended their immense gratitude to Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge and members of the SLACAL SVB for meticulously organising such an enjoyable event.

In recognition of high achievers within the SLACAL family, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock organised a gift pack containing all essential schools accessories plus books that would be useful for their education in the coming year.
05 children who had passed their scholarship exam in yr 2023 & 02 students who had obtained 9As at the Ordinary Level exam in 2024 along with their beloved parents & family members participated in a meticulously organised event complete with an afternoon lunch.
The event took place on Oct 26th 2024 at the 2(V)CAL auditorium, in Karandeniya
This program was arranged under the patronage & direction of the President of SLACAL Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge & the Centre Commandant of the regiment.The essential item pack for gifted for each child was worth Rs.18,000.00 including a gift voucher from DSI.
Mrs. Varuni Kulatunge graced the occasion as chief guest; While the Colonel Commandant & other senior/junior officers of SLACAL along with their spouses as the membership of the Seva Vanitha unit participated at this program highlighting the significance of this milestone donation program.
There was added significance to the event as master Chandupa Edirisinha and master Shasmitha Pathiraja donated a pack of valuable reading books for the proposed library at RHQ SLACAL.
