  • COLONEL COMMANDANT VISITS ACTC

    Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc, paid a official visit to the Armoured Corps Training Centre in Kalaththewa on 29 September 2020. On the arrival, Colonel Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout by the troops and warmly welcomed by the Commandant Armoured Corps Training Centre, Colonel M W A R C Wijesuriya RSP USP. Afterwards, he was briefed by the Commandant on the training and administrative process of ACTC. Commander Armoured Brigade Brigadier M G T D Rathnasekara USP, General Staff Officer I - RHQ SLAC Lt Col W A I S Mendis RSP USP and Staff Officer I (Log) - RHQ SLAC Lt Col T S R Perera were also attended for the visit.

  • 29TH ANNIVERSARY OF 4 ARMOURED REGIMENT

    The 4 Armoured Regiment, raised in September 1991 as the most formidable tank unit to be reckoned with, is 29 years old on Thursday (24 September 2020). The Anniversary celebrations of mighty tankers commenced with a string of commemorative activities including multi-religious observances starting from 13 to 20 September. Showcasing glamour and pride in grand scale, the Anniversary day was commemorated with a Guard Turnout and a Parade offered to the Commanding Officer Lt Col D A I J Dalugama USP psc, and was followed by a tree sapling planting. The day’s proceedings concluded with All Ranks Lunch.

  • 3RD UNIT VISIT OF ARMOUR LADIES CLUB AT 1 SLAC ROCK HOUSE CAMP

    Armour Ladies Club (ALC), chaired by Mrs Piumali Tillekerathne along with fellow members conducted the 3rd ALC Members meeting at 1 SLAC Rock House Camp on 13 September 2020. interaction with spouses of Officers and Other Ranks was important to inquire into the issues and difficulties experienced by the Cavalry families and to address those. Patience hearing with view to provide assistance achieve the intended aim. President of ALC Mrs Piumali Tillekerathne addressed the gathering and explained the aim of the programme and thereafter members of ALC interacted with each and every spouse individually and inquired into the issues and problems which they seek assistance. ALC together with the families enjoyed an entertainment session which marked the culmination of another memorable day. Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Samarasinghe, the Commanding Officer - 1 SLAC, Officers and all Ranks of 1 SLAC hosted the event.

  • LITERARY FESTIVAL 2020

    Armour Ladies Club (ALC) successfully held its Literary Festival 2020 with a glamorous awards ceremony on 8 September 2020. This novel event in the annual calendar of Armour Ladies Club was introduced and made a reality by Mrs Piumali Tillekerathne, President of Armour Ladies Club to coincide with the International Literacy Day.

  • SLMA OFFICER CAEDETS VISIT 4 ARMOURED REGIMENT - CLAPENBURG

    Officer Cadets of Intake 88 from Sri Lanka Military Academy made a field visit to the 4 Armoured Regiment on Wednesday,02 September. The Commanding Officer Lt Col D A I J Dalugama USP psc and the Officers of 4 SLAC welcomed the visiting cadets and instructors.

  • 2ND UNIT MEETING OF ARMOUR LADIES CLUB AT 5 SLAC "IRONSIDE" CAMP

    Armour Ladies Club (ALC), chaired by Mrs Piumali Thillekerathne along with some fellow members conducted the 2nd ALC members meeting at 5 SLAC "Ironside" Camp on 30 August 2020. This programme intends to have an interaction with spouses of Officers and Other Ranks to inquire into the issues and difficulties experienced by the Cavalry families in view to address those and to provide assistance. The President of ALC Mrs Piumali Thillekerathne addressed the gathering and explained the aim of the programme at the outset, and thereafter office bearers of ALC interacted with each and every spouse individually and inquired into the issues and problems which they seek assistance. An expert assistance for counseling was also given by Lieutenant Colonel Chinthaka Dissanayaka a professional counselor. Armour Ladies Club together with the families enjoyed an entertainment session which marked the culmination of another memorable day. Lieutenant Colonel Sujith Kariyawasam, the Commanding Officer - 5 SLAC and all Ranks of 5 SLAC hosted the event.

  • THE JOINT OFFICERS TRAINING SESSION AT 4 SLAC

    A joint Officers’ Training Session was conducted at the 4Armoured Regiment, Clapenburgon 22(Saturday). Officers from 4Ar, 6 SLAC, 2 (V) GR and Recruit Training Centre actively participated at the session. Maj TGNK Alahakoon and Capt JWRJC Ranwala presented their presentations on “Trump Administration and its Impact to Global Power Balance” and “Geostrategic Importance of Sri Lanka”. The session was thought provoking and informative where participants shared couple of views. The Commanding officers of 6 SLAC, 4 Ar and 2 (V) GR graced the occasion.

  • ARMOUR LADIES CLUB'S VISIT OF “ABIMANSALA III”

    Armour Ladies Club (ALC) visited the 'Abimansala III" accompanied by number of popular artists on 15 August 2020, a wellness resort located in Pangolla-Kurunegala where disabled soldiers of Sri Lanka Army who were wounded-in-action (WIA) are being looked after for their life time. This visit marks as the first official visit of “Abimansala III” by any group after Covid-19 pandemic spread, due to which all visits were suspended. The President of ALC, Mrs. Piumali Thillekerathne and members of ALC welcomed by inmates on their arrival.

  • 3 SLAC & 7(V) SLAC VISITS OF ARMOUR LADIES CLUB

    Armour Ladies Club, (ALC) chaired by Mrs Piumali Thillekerathne conducted the first ALC unit visit of 3 SLAC and 7(V) SLAC on 9 August 2020.

    At the invitation of the Armour Ladies Club, Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and General Officer Commanding 12 Division also joined this noble effort and spent a few hours with those family members.

  • ARMOUR LADIES CLUB PAY TRIBUTE TO FALLEN WAR HERO - LIEUTENANT GENERAL DENZIL KOBBEKADUWA

    Armour Ladies Club under the patronage of its President, Mrs Piumali Thillekerathne, organized a “Bodhi Puja” on 8 August 2020 with the gracious presence of Mrs Laly Kobbekaduwa at Rock House Camp temple premises to invoke blessing on the fallen war hero Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa on his 28th death anniversary.
