  • ARMY SOLDIER CAUGHT A THIEF AT BOOSSA RAILWAY STATION

    An Army soldier, named Private Kumara R.G.D, who is currently working at the Garrison Engineer's station at 61 Infantry Division Headquarters in Boossa, caught a thief at the railway station in Boossa at around afternoon hours while he was coming to the station to attend a personnel matter on 18 April 2023.

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN FINDING A CHILD WHO DROWNED AND DISAPPEARED IN THE PAMANKADA SUDUWELLA AREA

    Army personnel belonging to 12 Field Sri Lanka Engineers and 1 Sri Lanka Pioneer Corps lent their assistance to find a two and half year old child who has drowned in the 'Ranketa’ river in the Pamankada Suduwella area and disappeared while visiting a relative's house with his parents on 15 April 2023.

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN EXTINGUISH A FIRE AT PRIVATE PROPERTY

    On 15 April 2023, in response to an emergency need, Army personnel belonging to 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the 141 Infantry Brigade of the Security Forces (West) rushed to Gonawala in the Kelaniya area and assisted to douse a sudden fire that had erupted in a private plastic bathware shop due to electrical leakage.

    Army personnel of 3 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch serving under the 613 Infantry Brigade, which belongs to 61 Infantry Division, contributed their manpower to the Beach and Coral Reef Cleanup Programme, themed "Sayura Rakina Rella Samaga Ekwa Sayurata Husmak," organized by the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), Regional Office, Matara, along the Kapparathota coastal belt, Weligama.

  • WEST TROOPS CLEAN UNAWATUNA BEACH AREA

    A contingent of Army personnel serving in the 14 (V) battalion Gemunu Watch of the 613 Brigade under the 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) launched a beach cleaning project along the popular Unawatuna beachfront in Galle on 06 April 2023, adding to their community projects.
