61 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS CONDUCT A MEMORABLE VESAK ZONE WITH 'BATH DANSALA'

The 61 Infantry Division Headquarters, along with Its Brigades and Battalions, have demonstrated their dedication to serving the community by organizing a ‘Bath Dansala’ and Vesak Zone near to 61 Infantry Division Headquarters lacated at Boossa on 05 May 2023. The aim of this project was to provide a place of rest and refreshment for devotees who were going on pilgrimage to the Galle area during the Vesak festival.

Vesak festival is a significant event in the Buddhist calendar, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. Devotees often travel long distances to visit temples and pay their respects during this period. The troops from 61 Infantry Division recognized the importance of providing these devotees with a safe and comfortable space to rest and rejuvenate during their pilgrimage.

The ‘Bath Dansala’ and Vesak Zone were organized with great care and attention to detail. The area was decorated with beautiful Vesak lanterns, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division with his Brigade Commanders and the Commanding Officers provided close supervision to ensure that the project was executed flawlessly.

Similarly, the troops from 61 Infantry Division Headquarters, Brigades, and Battalions worked tirelessly to prepare and serve delicious food and refreshments to the devotees. The ‘Bath Dansala’ featured a variety of traditional Sri Lankan delicacies with rice and traditional curries. The Vesak Zone is provided to keep devotees refreshed and energized during their pilgrimage.

Futher, the ‘Bath Dansala’ and Vesak Zone organized by the troops from 61 Infantry Division were a resounding success. The project demonstrated the troops' commitment to serving the community and their respect for the Vesak festival and its traditions. The beautiful decorations, delicious food, and warm hospitality provided by the troops made the pilgrimage to Galle a memorable and enjoyable experience for all who visited. The project was conducted with the blessing of Commander Security Forces (West).
