In line with the Vesak Festival, the troops of 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery of 142 Infantry Brigade under Security Forces (West) have shown great dedication and commitment for organizing another charity event by offering a delicious lunch on 07 May 2023, for children residing at Sanhinda Children Home Watareka, Padukka.
The day's event not only providing children with a nutritious lunch but also brought joy and happiness to their lives. During the programme, the children were surprised with the gifts and the fun activities organized for them by Army personnel.
Further, the importance of these initiatives cannot be overstated. It is crucial to provide support and care to underprivileged children who may not have access to basic needs. The Security Forces (West) commitment to the community is commendable, and it is heartening to see such events being organized as a part of the Vesak celebrations.
By the way, the programme was a great success, and West troops has always been at the forefront of community service, and this event is a testament to their continued efforts to give back to society.
At the same time, parraral to this charity event, all the arrangements were well organized with the commitment of all ranks of the 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel W A S M Wijayalath RSP psc IG and the guidance of the Commander 142 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier J. K. R. P Jayasinghe RWP RSP USP, with the blessing of Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D. M. K. D. B Pussella RWP RSP.
The day’s programme was attended by several Senior Officers from 142 Infantry Brigade, Officers from 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery including Commanding Officer and Other Ranks along with children’s home staff.
Moreover, this delicious lunch treat and joyful afternoon for the children are perfect example of how the West troops are contributing to the community in a meaningful way.
