Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) sustained their comprehensive humanitarian operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 3 December 2025, maintaining the momentum of relief efforts initiated in response to Cyclone Ditwah and adverse weather conditions. Building upon the extensive operations conducted on 2 December 2025, Troops from all three brigades under command continued to provide critical assistance to affected communities through ongoing restoration projects, expanded drinking water distribution programmes and systematic cleaning operations at educational, religious and healthcare facilities.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment continued the critical restoration work at the Ayyanar Kovil in Kadduwan, where a Banyan tree had fallen on the religious site on 30 November 2025, causing partial damage to the roof structure. As of 3 December 2025, 02 officers with 12 soldiers remained engaged in the repair task, with continued support from the 10 SLE (01 officer with 12 soldiers). Additionally, the battalion responded to an urgent community need in Palali North, where a well serving as the primary drinking water source for approximately 20 families had become inoperable due to adverse weather conditions. Following a request from the Grama Niladhari and local residents, 01 officer with 08 soldiers conducted cleaning and restoration work on the well, ensuring the resumption of clean water supply to the affected families. Troops from the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion expanded their drinking water distribution operations to new locations, with soldiers (01 officer with 10 soldiers) delivering purified drinking water to displaced persons accommodated at the Uduvil A.M.T.M School Safety Centre and the Living Light Mission Church Safety Centre in Chunnakam. The battalion further conducted a comprehensive cleaning programme at Madhiye Pannasila School, which had been affected by flooding, with 01 officer with 05 soldiers participating in the operation.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade Bde of the 17 Gamunu Watch Battalion extended their community service efforts across multiple sites. Soldiers carried out a comprehensive cleaning programme at Pumpugar GTMS School in Ariyalai East, with 01 officer with 10 soldiers participating in the operation. The battalion also Moreover, it was deployed 01 officer with 15 soldiers to restore cleanliness at Veeramakali Amman Kovil in Nallur, Gurunagar, ensuring that the religious site was properly maintained for the local community. Meanwhile, troops of the 14 Gajaba Battalion conducted extensive cleaning operations at three separate locations. A team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers carried out a cleaning programme at Hindu Ladies Primary College in Kandaramadam North East. Separately, another detachment from the same battalion (01 officer with 10 soldiers) undertook a cleaning programme at St Mary's Community Centre in Navanthurei, following a request from the Chairman. Additionally, troops of the 14 Gajaba Regiment (01 officer with 10 soldiers) conducted a cleaning programme at Muththumil Preschool in Kakativu, ensuring that educational facilities were systematically restored.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, soldiers from the 10 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment extended essential assistance to flood-affected communities in Mallakam, where a dedicated team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers provided support to residents of Kallar village in cleaning their community, helping restore normalcy to the area. Troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted multiple cleaning operations at key community facilities throughout the day. A dedicated team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers provided assistance in cleaning the premises of Karainagar Divisional Hospital, ensuring that essential medical facilities remained operational for the affected population. The battalion further deployed 01 officer with 10 soldiers to conduct cleaning operations at Tholpuram Vigneshvaran School in Tholpuram East, restoring the educational facility for students and staff. Additionally, another detachment of 01 officer with 10 soldiers from the same battalion assisted in cleaning the premises of Pandathirippu Divisional Hospital, demonstrating the unit's commitment to maintaining critical healthcare infrastructure across the region.
As relief operations entered their second consecutive day of intensive deployment, troops of the 51 Infantry Division continue to remain actively engaged across affected areas in the Jaffna Peninsula, maintaining their disaster relief assistance whilst adapting to emerging community needs and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the civilian population as recovery efforts progress throughout the region.

Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu of the Commando Regiment ceremonially assumed duties as the 36th General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division Headquarters in Kopay on 18 October 2025. Upon his arrival at the Headquarters premises, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly received by the Staff Officers and accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the 14th Battalion Gajaba Regiment.
