51 Infantry Division Hosts Successful Seven-Side Football Tournament

The 51 Infantry Division, based in Kopay, successfully hosted a seven-side football tournament as part of its ongoing Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities. This initiative aimed to strengthen the bonds between the military and the local youth communities of Kopay. The event, held at the 51 Division CIMIC Park Ground, brought together 12 enthusiastic teams from surrounding villages, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship, unity, and teamwork.

The tournament culminated in an exhilarating final match between the Tamil Football Club and Queen Brothers Football Club. In a fiercely contested encounter, Tamil Football Club emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, securing the championship title.

Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, Commander of the 51 Infantry Division, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he commended the players for their dedication and skill, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering harmony and camaraderie. He also acknowledged the collective efforts of the organizers, whose commitment ensured the tournament's smooth execution.

This successful event once again highlighted the role of the 51 Infantry Division in promoting community engagement through sports, reinforcing the spirit of cooperation between the military and the local populace.
