Special Workshop on Non-Communicable Diseases Detection Held in Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna

A special workshop on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Detection and Prevention was successfully conducted on 5 March 2025, at the Cinema Hall of the Security Forces Headquaters - Jaffna. This initiative was organized under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, with the aim of enhancing awareness and preventive measures against non-communicable diseases among military personnel.

The workshop was led by a distinguished panel of medical professionals, including Specialist Medical Officer Brigadier RMM Monaragala USP, Specialist Medical Officer Brigadier ASM Wijewardena(Retd), and Nutritionist Captain HHDIL Hettiarachchi. Their expert insights covered a range of topics related to the early detection, management, and prevention of non-communicable diseases, which are among the leading health concerns worldwide.

Over 200 senior officers, officers, and other ranks serving in the Security Forces - Jaffna Area actively participated in the workshop. The session provided them with valuable knowledge on lifestyle modifications, dietary practices, and medical interventions that can significantly reduce the risk of NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.

This workshop reflects the commitment of the Security Forces - Jaffna to the well-being of its personnel by fostering health awareness and proactive disease prevention strategies. Such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term health and operational readiness of military personnel.
