    High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka His Excellency Michael Appleton paid a courtesy visit to the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on Monday 03 October 2022. His Excellency the Ambassador and the visiting delegation were warmly welcomed by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) at the Headquarters premises of Security Forces (Jaffna).

  • Forward Maintenance Area (North) Begins Logistic Workshop on Contemporary Case Studies

    The inauguration of the Logistic Workshop on “Contemporary Case Studies” Phase 1 commenced on 27 September 2022 at Army camp Kankesanthurai for the Quarter Masters, Assistant Log Officers, Majors(Admin and Quartering), Battalion Second In Commanders and Commanding Officers. This workshop is consisted of 3 Phases that would cover the streams of Capital works, Marching in and out procedures, Ration and Fuel issue procedures, Basic Ordinance procedures and Board of surveys, Maintenance of Equipment and Vehicles and Maintain of Military Discipline.

  • Visiting Swiss Delegation Calls at Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna)

    A Swiss delegation comprised of Mr. Raoul Imbach – Deputy Head of Mission/Head of Chancery, Mr Gaudenz Rust, Regional Security Advisor and Ms.Sushanthy Gobalakrishnan, Senior National Programme Officer at the Swiss Embassy visited the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on Wednesday 28 September 2022 during a tour to the North.

  • Foundation Laid for One More New House to Deserving Family in Thunnalai

    Implementing the concept of extending community assistance to necessitous families, the foundation stone was laid by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) for the construction of another new house for the family of Mr. Selvarathnam Jayapratha resided in Thunnalai, Point Pedro on 20 September 2022 amidst the religious blessings according to Hindu rituals.

  • Quarter Master General and Master General Ordinance Visits Security Force (Jaffna)

    As per the concept of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Quarter Master General, Major General Prasanna Ranawaka and Master General Ordinance, Major General Hirosha Wanigasekara have paid a maiden visit to Security Force (Jaffna) on 05 September 2022 in order to address the prevailing issues of the Administration and Quartering matters, which falls under respective Branches.

    Under the direction of the Commander, Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, the event was coordinated by the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigadier Clifford Zoysa accordant with Brigadier Administration and Quartering of SFHQ (J), Brigadier Anura Bandara.

  • SF (J) Commander Lays Cornerstone for Senior Officers’ Accommodation at Thalsevana Army Resort

    Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) laid the cornerstone for construction of the proposed new senior officers’ accommodation in Thalsevana Army Resort on 29th August 2022 with a view of further uplifting the living standards of senior officers and improving the infrastructure facilities. The construction is to be carried out by 5th Battalion Engineer Services Regiment.

  • 52 Infantry Division Commemorates 27th Anniversary

    The 52 Infantry Division proudly celebrated its 27th Anniversary on 24th August 2022 marking yet another milestone. In celebration of the Anniversary, series of programmes were organized with the participation and the directions of the General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu.

    In line with the celebration of 27th Anniversary Day, all the staff of the 52 Infantry Division were organized a Bodi Puja on 23rd August 2022 at 52 Infantry Division Temple.

  • Commander of The Army Paid a Visit in Jaffna

    Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, who took over as the 24th Commander of the Army made his first visit to Jaffna Peninsula on 26 August 2022 on the invitation of Major General WMGCSB Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander of the Security Forces (Jaffna).

    The Commander of the Security Forces (Jaffna) welcomed Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on arrival at the Palaly International Airport and extended a warm welcome to the Security Forces (Jaffna) premises. On his arrival at the entrance of the Security Forces (Jaffna), Commander of the Security Forces (Jaffna) invited him to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour by the troops of the Gajaba Regiment in the parade ground accorded in his honour in conformity with attaching due recognition and prominence to military formalities, and Commander of the Army took the salute in the parade. This was followed by planting of sapling and a group photograph with officers.

  • English Language Course Ends Successfully

    One - month English Language Course to improve English language skills of Other Ranks serving in the Jaffna Peninsula was conducted by Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna from 18th July 2022 to 18th August 2022. Thirty Two Other Ranks from various Regiments benefitted from this course, which covered different aspects of the language and its application. The 1st in order of merit was secured by Private De Silva APD while Cpl Jayashinha MANTB and Gnr Panagoda PHK secured the 2nd and 3rd places of the course respectively.

  • Indian Peace Keeping Force War Heroes Commemorated in Jaffna

    Fallen War Heroes of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) during the 'Operation Pawan' and other operations against LTTE terrorists during the period from 1987 to 1990 in Sri Lanka were commemorated and their sacrifices were remembered at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Monument in Palaly on 15 August 2022 to coincide with the 75th Independence Day of India.
