Major General M K S Silva RWP RSP ndu General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division relinquished his office on 18 July 2021 to take over new appointment as the Quarter Master General at Army Headquarters. A series of formalities, held at the 22 Infantry Division Headquarters in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout, accorded to the outgoing GOC on arrival at the venue.

Based on the direction of the General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division, Major General Nalin Koswaththa and with the supervision of the Commander 231 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarchchi, a programme was organized to distribute 33 dry ration packs (Each pack worth of Rs. 3500.00) among 22 needy families and 12 temples in Batticaloa district on Friday (02).

The 24 Infantry Division in coordination with Ven. Suseema Thero of Buddangala Buddist Monstery conducted a donation of dry ration packs for people in Walathapitiya Tamil village in Amapara. 400 packs of essential food items (each pack worth of Rs.3000) were distributed during the programme.

Troops under command to 23 Infantry Division in close co-operation with Medical Officers of Health (MOH) successfully carried out COVID-19 vaccination programmes at 15 places in Batticaloa district on 8, 9 June 2021.

In response to a request made by the GA Trincomalee Mr. Saman Dharshana Padikorala and health authorities in Trincomalee District, troops of under command battalions of 22 Infantry Division assisted to health authorities for vaccination programme against COVID-19 in Trincomalee district on 08 June 2021.

Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - East under the guidance of Commander Security Force East, Major General Channa Weerasuriya taking their own initiative supplied a large quantity of vegetables to the Dimbulagala Forest Hermitage on Wednesday (09).

Batticaloa District Coordinating Committee for prevention of COVID - 19 pandemic presided by the GA Batticaloa Mr. K Karunaharan, assembled at the District Secretariat Batticaloa on 28 May 2021. Major General Nalin Koswatte the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Director of Teaching Hospital Batticaloa and Commanding Officer 4 GW also attended the said event.

Under the supervision of 23 Infantry Division, the medical staff and Army troops attached to Intermediate Care Centre(ICC) Punani illuminated its premises with Colorful Vesak Lanterns and Lights on account of commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment (Nirvana) and Passing Away (Parinirvaana) of Lord Buddha on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day.

Under the direction of GOC 22 Infantry Division Major General MKS Silva RWP RSP ndu and with the supervision of Commander 221 Brigade, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of 22 Infantry Division conducted awareness programs on Manday (24) combined with PHIs in the area to educate the public on preventive measures against the rapid contamination of the COVID - 19 in Trincomalee District.
