Batticaloa District Coordinating Committee for prevention of COVID - 19 pandemic held another meeting at the District Secretariat Batticaloa on 14 May 2021 presided by the GA Batticaloa, Mr. K Karunaharan, Director of Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, DIG of Batticaloa District, Major General Nalin Koswatte, the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division and Commander 231 Infantry Brigade.
Major General Nalin Koswatte, the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division led a donation programme at Batticaloa DIG office on 14 May 2021to distribute 1000 numbers of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) for 12 different police stations in order to facilitate them to work efficiently with required safety precautions.
As a readiness to face any emergency situation under present rapid contamination of the COVID - 19 virus in the country, Kiliweddi Hospital and Hameedia Garment - Sampoor of Trincomalee district are being turned into Covid 19 treatment centers by the troops of 15 SLLI & 22 VIR battalions as per the direction given by Major General MKS Silva RWP RSP ndu General Officer Commanding - 22 Infantry Division and with the supervision of Commanders of 222 & 223 Infantry Brigades. The treatment centers consist with the capacity of 80 and 150 beds respectively.
Major General Nalin Koswatte, the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, led a donation programme at Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) Punani on 13 May 2021 focusing the immediate needs of medical staff with the assistance of Major General Bansajaya (Rtd) of Hirdaramani group.
Coordinating conference on improving infrastructure facilities of ICCs and uplifting the living standard of people living in Trincomalee District was held at the GA office Trincomalee on 12 May 2021 with the participation of Member of Parliament Mr. Kapila Nuwan Athukorala, GA - Trincomalee Mr. Saman Dharshana Padikorala, GOC - 22 Infantry Division Major General MKS Silva RWP RSP ndu, Commander 221 Infantry Brigade, Regional Director of Health Services, SSP Trincomalee & Kanthale and DMC Coord - Trincomalee.

Additional GA, Mayor of Batticaloa, Major General NalinKoswatte the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Colonel VijithaHettiarachchi Commander 231 Infantry Brigade also took part in the conference.
Considering the fast swelling numbers of COVID infected persons, Hardy College of Technology Ampara was improvised into an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) under the directions of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Channa Weerasuriya to meet with needs at this critical hour of our society.
Security Force (East) continues to respond to the emergence of new positive cases of COVID - 19 outbreak, by converting Pulathisipura, Brandix – Punani and Kandakadu Quarantine Centers to Intermediate Care Centers ( ICCs) and Hinguraggoda Hospital into a Covid Treatment Center.
In concurrence with the May Day, the troops of Forward Maintenance Area (East) gave a helping hand to the reconstructions of historic "Demala Maha Seya" in Polonnnaruwa.
